Looking forward to reading
I haven't had a chance to read this yet as I have about six other books at my bedside. I am currently half way through a James Patterson, so once it's finished this will be my next. I'm a big James Patterson fan.

Disappointing
This is more a full history of Lennon and the Beatles, the ‘last days’ take up but a small fraction at the end. Nothing new to be learned. Small chapters but long winded with a misleading title.

Fabuliscious! ;)
Just when I thought I knew everything about Lennon, this book convinced me when he said "The Beatles are more popular than Jesus" was, indeed, totally taken out of context during that interview...he apologized profusely, but honestly now that I think about it, his quote was entirely honest...of course, that is not the only thought that crossed my mind...almost TMI (too much information) but I devoured the extra knowledge about Lennon :)

An amazing book that all should read
I admit that I'm a huge fan of true crime novels and biographies...and I've never read anything from this author before now. This book is absolutely fantastic! It goes through the history of the Beatles and their rise to super stardom, while fast forwarding every few chapters to the inner workings of the mind of Mark Chapman in 1980. The best thing about this, is that it is written almost like a fictional story, while at the same time feeling like a true crime novel. It's a unique way of telling a story that has so much significance in the history of music and pop culture. Even if you've never listened to the Beatles or if you're not a big fan of them, you still know who they are and the enormous impact that they had and still do to this day. Yoko took a lot of flack from people, blaming her for the Beatles breaking up and I personally don't think it is fair.Regardless of what you're opinion is of her or of the Beatles, this is a fantastic book that anyone can enjoy and love. I can only hope that John Lennon is aware of how much he is loved and still remembered. It's very tragic that he had to die right when he was at his happiest. Kudos to the author for writing this!!

*yawn* fairly boring and badly written
The Beatles were before my time and I've never been a fan, though I like the music of their time. What attracted me was the fact that James Patterson is listed as author and I like his style of writing in general... I haven't bothered to check which parts of the book he has actually written - but I guess everything to do with the assassin, since they make fairly good / fluent reading. I can't imagine that James Patterson is happy with this release and his name on it.so what's so bad about it?* it's NOT a book about the last days of John Lennon - it's more like an attempted biography of the Beatles* putting one quote after the other, like pearls on a string, doesn't make good writing... and more than half of the book, that's not touching the assassin, is like that and really makes arduous reading- this changes when the story reaches the late 1970s and finally 1980 - still quotes but it reads like a story, not a loveless string of quotes* it's so boring to read ... maybe because I'm not a fan and don't have any intention of becoming one.Finishing the book was a real struggle until the style improved - so the last segments, which might qualify at JL's last weeks/ days were OK.Overall bad choice for me and a waste of money...
