What's the shelf life of the unused strips?

In my experience, I have never had a command strip fail on its own. Some do if people pull on the item that is attached. I would guess shelf life is easily over a year since I have many types that sit in a drawer and I just grab something as they are needed.

Stick to the dashboard in the summer sun?

Nope! Purchased these and wasted my money. Each one I tried didn’t stick at all.

anyone try this on a foam poster board? is it strong enough even if the board is curving to mount flat on wall?

I would recommend the Velcro-like Command strips meant for hanging photos and picture frames instead.
