Why is there such a heavy oil smell? What is this material and why is it on a food product?

There should not be any oil smell at all. I would guess that the manufacturer coated it in protective oil for shipping. My thought would be to wash the whole unit with soap and warm water- which is what I do before I first use anything having to deal with food.

Is the juicer made out of Aluminum?

Most metal parts of this juicer are cast iron and other ferrous metal. But the cone-shaped press is a non-ferrous metal. The strainer is all a ferrous metal, verified by its attraction to a magnet. The funnel is an alloy of magnetic and non-magnetic metal - the lower part of the funnel is a magnetic metal but the top wider part is non-ferrous, meaning it's not iron or steel.
