How deep can it measure?

See the video, but the short answer is you can measure the high/low of thicknesses from 0 to 2 inches. The instrument will go another 1-3/4 inches, so it can be inserted into something with thickness up to 3-3/4 inches. For above 2" thickness, you will have to "eyeball" the high/low. Alos, there is a metric scale on the back side of the tool.
