My 10yo son got this set for Christmas this year and he loves it. He had received 2-3 different Mario sets this year and he loves to combine them. He already has several of the Super Mario LEGO sets and this is a great addition to the collection. These sets are really neat because they are themed to Mario but expandable. And these sets are not overly priced. One of the other benefits that he loves is the interactivity of the Mario character on some of the marked blocks in this set to cause Mario to react with changes in appearance and sound. So it's not only a LEGO set but it's kinda like a game too. We love this set especially because of the character reference to the Super Mario 2 Nintendo game. You'll enjoy this set a lot. PROS - LEGO Brand set that is high quality - Super Mario themed set that is expandable with other Mario sets in the LEGO series - Not as pricey as other sets so it is highly giftable - Fun to create imaginative games around this set CONS - Poses choking hazard to smaller children which is true of all LEGOs Unlike some of the other LEGO sets we have purchased, which is literally over 100 sets, we get a lot of use out of these ones because of their expandability and electronic interactivity.
