Review: Deeply technical and profound - I would not recommend this book for a beginner student; it is really heavy to read and grasp all the details given in Vyasa's commentary. For a beginner, I would recommend Iyengar's Light on Yoga Sutras. For the more dedicated student, this book is very good, and certainly will enrich the meanings of each sutra, as well, it has a very good translation and interpretation of Vyasa's commentary.
Review: Excelente traducción de los Yoga Sutras y sus comentarios originales - Los comentarios originales (que se pueden atribuir al propio Patanjali, aunque no se sabe a ciencia cierta) no suelen aparecer en la mayoría de las versiones. Normalmente se da una traducción de los sutras y un comentario del autor. Aquí sí aparecen los comentarios originales además de los del autor. Se aclaran de esta manera mucho mejor los sutras. Para el estudiante de sánscrito aparecen también los textos en ese idioma. Por echar algo en falta, a mi me hubiera gustado tener las transliteración del sánscrito para así reconocer mejor los términos usados. De cualquier manera, un imprescindible para tu biblioteca de Yoga Sutras.

I would not recommend this book for a beginner student; it is really heavy to read and grasp all the details given in Vyasa's commentary. For a beginner, I would recommend Iyengar's Light on Yoga Sutras. For the more dedicated student, this book is very good, and certainly will enrich the meanings of each sutra, as well, it has a very good translation and interpretation of Vyasa's commentary.

Los comentarios originales (que se pueden atribuir al propio Patanjali, aunque no se sabe a ciencia cierta) no suelen aparecer en la mayoría de las versiones. Normalmente se da una traducción de los sutras y un comentario del autor. Aquí sí aparecen los comentarios originales además de los del autor. Se aclaran de esta manera mucho mejor los sutras. Para el estudiante de sánscrito aparecen también los textos en ese idioma. Por echar algo en falta, a mi me hubiera gustado tener las transliteración del sánscrito para así reconocer mejor los términos usados. De cualquier manera, un imprescindible para tu biblioteca de Yoga Sutras.

This is sooooooo in depth. I have only read like 20 pages. It takes me a long time to digest and I use it as reference but such a good dissection of Pantanjali sutras.
