A Pen That Lives Up to the Hype!
After spending hours researching for a pen that could write in any direction, I came across multiple recommendations on Reddit for the Zebra F-701 Metal Pen. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! This pen is one of the best choices I've ever made. The fine point (0.8mm) and black ink provide smooth, precise writing every time. The stainless steel design is both sleek and durable, making it a joy to use. Plus, it's retractable and comes with 2 black ink refills, so I'm always prepared. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality pen, the Zebra F-701 is definitely the way to go. It’s my new go-to!

Can't Go Wrong
Zebra is tied for #1 in my ratings for pens. Tied with Uni-ball Jetstream RT. They are both amazing to write with. A little history I've had and used Zebra 301's going back to the early 90s. I used them everyday. And, everyday someone would steal them. I had to watch them like crazy, as soon as someone ese used it they would steal it. The 301 has not changed in all that time. I have a couple that sit in my lap top bag for 10+ years. The 701 is made from steel from tip to tip, for about $8? Oh man. And like Uni, Zebra produces simply awesome products no matter the price point. The ink flows freely, the point doesn't catch on the paper and the pen looks beautiful. The knurled grip gives control. It has a satisfying click when deploying or retracing the point and the action is crisp. It's not super thick, so it fits in pen holders on notebooks. I can't find a complaint, quality, doesn't pretend to be something it's not, looks great, works and no need to sell a kidney to buy one or replace one. A+

One of my favorite pens of all time - 5/5
This pen has been a favorite of mine for quite a while now. It is a pen that could sell for 2 to 3 times what it sells for considering it's workmanship and solid materials. Fits really well in your hand and writes extremely well. I love this pen and will be purchasing more (or at least refills if I don't lose it) - 5/5

Perfect pen!!
Hands down, my all time favorite pen!! Glides so smoothly and the metal barrel gives it the perfect amount of weight. I am a pen freak so have tried hundreds of pens from cheap to expensive...this is the only pen for me!

Ink cartridges are not the same and spotty
New refill pictured at the top, old refill pictured on the bottom. The all metal ink barrel ink refill is spotty and leaves goops of ink when you begin to write but otherwise glides ok. The old refills with the plastic barrel writes with little spotting albeit it doesn’t glide well and you feel like you’re scratching the paper. Between the two I prefer the old one because I hate the messiness of the ink goops. Suggest to buy refills in store so you can verify what type you get since the refill skus here all have pictures of both refill types in the listings. Otherwise this is a solid pen. I own RoTring pens as well and actually prefer the Zebra. It holds up better to wear and tear with less visible scratches and the size is great. Looks professional.

The BEST value EDC pen
This is the best value EDC pen I've ever come across. The F-701 is sturdy, pretty indestructible, easy to carry and use, has a decent comfortable heft, and is economical enough that you won't cry too much if you lose it. The barrel and the nose are solid metal. The ring on the distal end of mine is plastic compared to what seems to be metal on the new version, but I've never had a mechanism break on me yet. I've had 4 of them over the past ~10 years: I lost the first one, 2 is in my pocket, 3 is at my work desk if I forget 2, and 4 is a spare if they're ever discontinued. The packaged one in the pics is a gift for someone. With the refills I have, I fully expect these pens to last another 10+ years as long as I don't lose them. These are also the only pens that have lasted long enough and that I've liked enough to actually have to buy refills for. I have some nicer costlier pens, but I'll never hesitate to stick one of these in my pocket or jam into a clipboard in the field. I absolutely love them. These are ballpoint pens, but are still very smooth and don't smear like rollerball or gel, especially if you're left-handed. If you appreciate decent pens, just go buy one now. They're only $7-10 as of July 2024; you won't be disappointed.
