I managed to put together the pumpkin chair however it doesn't stay fully expanded. Did I not put it together correctly?

That is the spot that I was talking about in my review. You have to whittle out and force the pins through with the chair already fully expanded. My chair would not expand all the way without me carving out the plastic on the tip of the last bar on the perimeter of the chair=-( I hope this helped you. It is a defect in the production of this chair.

What clearance is needed around chair for swinging? My porch is enclosed and not very wide.
