Phenomenal!

This concert covers the music of Peter Green in a most wonderful way, being a big Peter Green fan from back when he was a part of the band he started. By the way if you like the music in this concert pick up the 3cd set of In The Beginning of Fleetwood Mac also the cd Then Play On which features one of my favorite Peter Green songs Oh Well Parts 1 and 2, part 2 will blow your mind. Growing up in the Philly PA area the local station would play Fleetwood Mac and yes play Oh Well both parts. Ok back to this release, I get the feeling the Mick Fleetwood thoroughly enjoyed playing this music again, he is featured on drums throughout. So many greats showed up to pay tribute to Peter and did an amazing job. The first act is full of some really nice numbers and played very well but for me it was the second act where things start to really happen and they play some of my favorites. It start with Man of the World and then moves on to Oh Well both parts with David Gilmore doing a most wonderful job on Part 2 which is played for the first time in concert, Fleetwood Mac never got to play the second part. Black Magic Woman shows up a little, later so many people think that this is a cover of a Santana song when in reality Santana's is a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song. Towards the end of this set and the concert The Green Manalishi and Albatross are played Kirk Hammett appears on them playing Peter Green's cherish Les Paul which he now owns, what a wonderful touch to an already incredible concert. Pick this up it has 2cds of the show a Blu-Ray of the concert. It is housed in a hard back book with pictures and a couple of essays to complete this release. Another note this concert took place the day before the world shut down including all concerts due to the Covid situation. I love this release and Mick did a wonderful job pulling it all together, thank you for that.

I was a huge Fleetwood Mac fan without ever knowing about their early blues work. I discovered Peter Green about 3 years ago after buying an old "Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac" album just for fun. He has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. Peter Green has left us an incredible body of work we can enjoy forever. I watched this concert on NUGS.com a couple months ago and was blown away. Now I OWN the video of the concert - and 2 CDs too. What a lineup of truly great musicians to honor Peter Green, who was one of the best blues players ever! I will be watching this amazing concert over and over again.

I just so happened to be channel surfing one day and I saw this concert being presented on PBS so I just had to stop channel surfing and watch this program ! I was so impressed that I just had to buy this blue-ray DVD/2 CD set. As of present , I am not able to watch the video , since I don't have a blue-ray DVD player - but that may change soon ! There are many special guests here which include BILLY GIBBONS ( Z Z TOP ) , DAVID GILMOUR ( PINK FLOYD ) , BILL WYMAN ( ROLLING STONES ) , STEVEN TYLER ( AEROSMITH ) , PETE TOWNSHEND ( THE WHO ) , JOHN MAYALL ( JOHN MAYALL'S BLUESBREAKERS ) , solo artist JONNY LANG , former FLEETWOOD MAC member JEREMY SPENCER , and CHRISTINE MCVIE , as well as others . I think that this is a 2 hour concert or longer , but fans should enjoy this concert as much as I did ! PETER GREEN was born PETER ALLEN GREENBAUM ( 29 October , 1946 - 25 July 2020 ) ( R.I.P. ) and was at first a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and was featured on the album " A HARD ROAD " (1967 ) . He soon left to form the group " PETER GREEN'S FLEETWOOD MAC " , which became shortened to" FLEETWOOD MAC " . He left the group having drug addiction and mental health issues . He recorded sporadically in the '70's up to the '90's and ended up forming the group "PETER GREEN SPLINTER GROUP" and recorded 9 albums of blues material from 1997 to 2004. I bought a few of those albums . Before his death at the age of 73 , there was an all-star tribute billed as " MICK FLEETWOOD AND FRIENDS TRIBUTE TO FLEETWOOD MAC " at the LONDON PALLADIUM on 25 February ,2020 in which Peter Green did not attend . This DVD / 2 CD compilation is a fitting tribute to Peter Green's guitar playing .

I've been looking for this instrumental version of "OH Well" for decades. At last I've found it with a treasure trove of great blues by some of the greatest blues musicians. The best musical find in years.

One of the best concert films I have seen! Mick Fleetwood and the house band give ai fitting tribute to Peter Green. Rick Vito is a solid rock throughout and often overlooked Jonny Lang is superb, especially on “ II need your love so bad” and the acoustic set. Everyone involved delivered an outstanding performance !

The sound and picture quality are excelent . Every song on this disc is perfection. Each of many guest artist did fantastic versions of these classic Peter Green songs. If you are a fan of The Peter Green era of FleetwoodMac this is an absolute must have for your collection. Well worth the price.

Quel beau concert hommage à PETER GREEN , il n'était pas présent, on sait que sa santé, n'était pas bonne, le concert à eu lieu en février, il est décédé en Juillet 2020 un concert juste avant le confinement à Londres au Palladium, de nombreux invités dont Billy Gibbons( ZZ-Top) Steven Tyler, qu'on ne présente plus, Kirk Hammet de METALLICA surprenant, pour the Green Manalishi( repris aussi par Judas Priest), puis Jeremy Spencer un des survivants de la première formation , ou il partageait la guitare avec GREEN et KIRWAN, et le chant, présent ici dur 2 titres , excellent à la slide Rick Vito excellent aussi guitre et chant ' il participa en 87-91 ,ZAK STARKEY ( fils de Ringo Starr) second drums, PETE TOWSHEND , guitare, vocals, jOHN MAYALL (84 ans) comme c'est beau et bon ç la fois, BILL WYMAN ( ex STONES à la basse, trés affaiblie je trouve, questions santé il n'est pas gâté non plus, 84 ans aussi je crois, Christine Mc Vie, , une belle surprise,, ANDY FAIRWEATHER LOW toujours en second couteau çà la guitare et au chant, ( Clapton) JOHNNY LANG formidable, quelle assurance au chant et à la guitare Noel Gallagher (Oasis) et bien d'autres ,orchestré et organisé par MICK FLEETWOOD imparable, toujours aussi bon batteur. Cerise sur la gâteau la présence de DAVID GILMOUR , nottement sur Oh Well part 1 et Part 2 jamais joué sur scène, sans la partie orchestrale, plus éléctrique (acoustique à l'origine) un de mes premiers 45 trs, la partie 2 étant la face B de ce single 68, Gilmour aussi sur Albatross en pedal steel guitar, une merveille, prés de 2H30 de concert ici en double ce+Bluray INDISPENSABLE avec Black Magic Woman, Need your love so Bad, et tant d'autres mon gros coup de coeur, pôur un grand guitariste chanteur compositeur, que j'ai pu rencontrer il y a quelques années, RIP PETER.

Februar 2020, nur wenige Tage bevor der erste Fall von COVID-19 in Großbritannien entdeckt wurde, fand im legendären Palladium in London ein ganz besonderes Konzert statt, zu Ehren von Fleetwood Mac Gründer Peter Green und seiner Musik zu seiner Fleetwood Mac Zeit (1967-1970). Leider verstarb Peter Green (R.I.P.) nur wenige Monate nach diesem Event im Juli 2020. Ursprünglich als weltweites Kino-Event für all jene Zuschauer geplant, die am Abend dieses historischen Ereignisses nicht persönlich anwesend sein konnten, mussten sämtliche Kino-Pläne pandemiebedingt verworfen werden. Ab dem 24. April gab es das komplette Konzert exklusiv auf www.nugs.net in HD und 4K mit Dolby Atmos Sound per Stream zu sehen. Die versammelten Musiker glichen einer All-Star-Besetzung. Unter den Mitwirkenden waren dabei Neil Finn, Noel Gallagher, Billy Gibbons, David Gilmour, Kirk Hammett, John Mayall, Christine McVie, Jeremy Spencer, Zak Starkey, Pete Townsend, Steven Tyler und Bill Wyman. Die Hausband bestand aus Mick Fleetwood höchstpersönlich sowie Dave Bronze, Johnny Lang, Andy Fairweather Low, Ricky Peterson und Rick Vito. Beteiligt war auch die Produzenten-Legende Glyn Johns als Executive Sound Producer. Das Ganze hat durchaus Parallelen zu Eric Claptons Crossroads Guitar Festival und braucht den Vergleich zu Crossroads nicht zu scheuen. Einer der Höhepunkte war Kirk Hammett mit genau der Les Paul, mit der Green Geschichte schrieb. Ein weiteres Highlight ist Billy Gibbons kribbelndes „The Green Manalishi (with the Two Prong Crown)“. Ein Song, den auch Judas Priest coverten. Nicht minder genial der Schlusssong, wo alle auf die Bühne kamen und zu „Shake Your Money Maker“ jamten und sangen. Überhaupt wird viel auf dieser Doppel-CD/dem Konzertfilm gejamt. Peter Green hätte an den ausufernden Versionen seine wahre Freude gehabt. Ich liebe diese Jams und sauge die förmlich auf. Das Publikum dieser ausverkauften Show erlebte etwas Einzigartiges, auch wenn Peter Green selbst am Konzert nicht teilnehmen konnte. Diese Show bekommt jetzt auch eine besonders ergreifende Bedeutung, mit dem unglücklichen Tod von Peter Green im Juli 2020. Alleine die Lebensgeschichte von Peter Green würde den Rahmen jeglicher Rezi sprengen. Umso schöner ist es, dass Mick Fleetwood diese illustre Schar an Ehrengästen zu diesem Konzert zusammentrommeln (beabsichtigtes Wortspiel) konnte und die Erinnerung an die erste Phase von Fleetwood Mac erhält, bevor 1975 ein Stilwechsel zum Soft-Pop-Rock folgte, mit der aber dann Fleetwood Mac einen unfassbaren Ruhm und gigantische Verkaufszahlen erreichten. Alleine das zweite Album der „neuen“ Formation RUMOURS 1977 ist das am siebtmeisten verkaufte Studio-Album aller Zeiten. Über 40 Mio. wurden von diesem Wunderalbum weltweit verkauft. Fleetwood Mac wären aber ohne die bluesigen Anfänge niemals so groß geworden. Sie sind Teil der Band und dass Mick Fleetwood diesen Wurzeln Tribut zollt findet meinen allergrößten Respekt. Die beiden Phasen der Band sind nicht miteinander vergleichbar und trotzdem gehören sie untrennbar zusammen. Mir gefallen die blueslastigen Mac genauso herausragend wie die späteren Softrocker Mac. Mein persönlicher Dank geht an Mick Fleetwood, dass er dieses phänomenale Konzert organisierte. Schade, dass John McVie nicht dabei war. Warum, konnte ich nicht recherchieren. Mit Jeremy Spencer war ein weiteres Mac Gründungsmitglied mit dabei und auch die etwas später hinzugekommene Christine McVie (1970) ist hier vertreten. Es ist einfach traumhaft diese ganzen Musiker auf der Bühne live spielen und singen zu sehen. Eine unfassbar geile Atmosphäre, die super auf dem Konzertfilm rüberkommt. Der Sound ist top. Bild sowas von gut. In den letzten acht Monaten sind ja etliche Blues-Highlights veröffentlich worden. Neue Musik wie alte a la Crossroads und diesem Projekt hier. Mein Musikgeschmack ist sehr breit gefächert, mit einer doch ausgeprägten Neigung zum Rock in all seinen Varianten. Bluesrock ist dabei genauso einer meiner Faibles wie der Poprock der späteren Mac. Das eine schließt das andere nicht aus. Hauptsache gute Mucke und hier wird davon reichlich geboten. Zugegebenermaßen bewundere ich Fleetwood Mac sehr, alt wie neu und bin vielleicht nicht ganz subjektiv neutral. Aber hier wird Musik in einer Perfektion dargeboten, die zumindest ich einfach genial finde. Sie berührt mich sehr, erreicht mich emotional und verursacht Gänsehaut. Und wenn man dann noch liest was Mick Fleetwood auf seiner Homepage schreibt, dann bleiben die Nackenhaare in Daueraufstellung auf. Diese herzergreifenden Worte finden sich auf der Homepage von Mick Fleetwood: For me, and every past and present member of Fleetwood Mac, losing Peter Green is monumental! Peter was the man who started the band Fleetwood Mac along with myself, John McVie, and Jeremy Spencer. Peter Green ist zweifellos einer der begnadeten Gitarristen auf diesem Planeten. Nicht umsonst wird er als der „beste weiße Blues-Gitarrist“ bezeichnet und von Fans, Freunden und ehemaligen Bandkollegen gelegentlich „The Green God“ genannt. Neben Judas Priest coverten andere Musiker Hits dieser Phase. Carlos Santana machte 1970 Greens Black Magic Woman durch eine Coverversion zum Welthit. 1995 widmete der Rock- und Bluesgitarrist Gary Moore seinem Vorbild Peter Green das Tributealbum „Blues for Greeny“. Jimmy Page und die Black Crowes interpretierten OH WELL sowie SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER auf dem Live-Album „Live at the Greek“. Ebenso verwenden Aerosmith OH WELL bei Live-Auftritten und veröffentlichten außerdem eine Version von STOP MESSIN‘ AROUND auf dem Cover-Album „Honkin' on Bobo“. Die Les-Paul von Green hat übrigens der 2010 viel zu früh verstorbene Gary Moore (R.I.P.) einst käuflich erworben. Nach einer knapp 10-jährigen Pause/Auszeit (u.a. drogenbedingt) startete Green 1979 sein Comeback. Unregelmäßige Alben und Touren folgten. Greens Ursprünge in den 60ern waren als Gitarrist bei John Mayall, wo er keinen geringeren als Eric Clapton (gründete im Anschluss „The Cream“) an der Gitarre ersetzte. Der Konzertfilm kann kaum eine bessere Würdigung dieses Ausnahmegitarristen sein. Durch seinen überraschenden Tod bekommt die Veröffentlichung eine andere Dramaturgie. Ungeplant aber perfekt passend zum Lebenswerk Greens. Dieses Album wird für mich immer die Erinnerung an Peter Green und auch Fleetwood Mac erhalten. Denn allzu lange werden wir uns auch an den noch übrig gebliebenen Fleetwood Mac nicht erfreuen können. Unschlagbar ist der Preis. Für 17,99€ bekommt man eine Bluray und zwei CD’s. Die Abzocker von Pink Floyd können sich hier mal ein Beispiel nehmen. Heute ist ja ebenfalls deren Live-Auftritt in Knebworth 1990 veröffentlicht worden, der bereits 2019 in einer völlig überteuerten Box (350-500€) mit Konzertfilm enthalten war. Pink Floyd veröffentlichten allerdings nur 1 CD, ohne den Konzertfilm, und das für unverschämte 20€. Bei Mick Fleetwood Projekt stimmt einfach alles. Gastmusiker, Stimmung, Fans, Musik, die Aufmachung und der Preis. Hier müsste man 6 Sterne vergeben dürfen. Nach dem Re-Release vor vier Wochen des ersten Live-Albums LIVE (1980) der „neuen“ Mac in einer großen Box mit unveröffentlichten Live-Aufnahmen kommt nun dieser sensationelle Output. ミック・フリートウッドを中心に、初期（PETER GREEN在籍時）フリートウッド・マックの曲を、豪華ミュージシャンが入れ替わり立ち替わり演奏していくライブ作品なのですが、しびれるポイント多数です。そもそもマックが英米混在のバンドとなったため、ゲストミュージシャンもあまり見ない組合せが多く、非常に興味深いです。THE WHOのピートが、ZZ TOPのビリー・ギボンズやMETALLICAのカークと握手をして演奏するなど、ちょっと想像出来ませんでした。そして、借り出された感満載で登場したオリジナル・メンバー＝ジェレミー・スペンサーの渾身の演奏には大感動！この作品のクライマックスでした！

Cosa si può dire su un concerto che è IMMENSO , per la musica e per chi ci suona da Cristine MCVIE al batterista ,padrone di casa , Mick Fleetwood , e tanti altri che suonano i brani più importanti di PETER GREEN ,sempre troppo presto dimenticato dai più , e membro fondatore importantissimo nella storia di quel gruppo che ha attraversato la storia della musica ROCK dagli anni 60 fino ad oggi ......ci sono un JOHN MAYAL con una ALL YOUR LOVE magica tutta un blues dell'anima bellissima le due con la CRISTINE MC VIE ,con Stop Messin Around e Looking for somebody molto belle con assolo di tastiere suoi interessanti e del tastierista all'hammond molto ispirato bello ,una LIKE CRYING con Noel Gallagher che sale di due scalini nella mia poca considerazione del personaggio ,mai apprezzato molto, invece sorpresa molto valido, poi i grandi pezzi e l'elenco diventa lungo ,una THE SKY IS CRYING ,con Jeremy Spencer ,commovente , The Green Manalishi con Billy Gibbons molto buona , ALBATROSS grande successo all'epoca , qui con DAVID GILMOUR incredibilmente bella e attuale e la chiusura con Shake Your Money Maker ,tutti sul palco un bel tiro un bel regalo per PETER GREEN .....non ho scordato MAN OF THE WORLD ma voglio evidenziare questo brano che fu ,nei primi sessanta a farmi innamorare dei FLEETWOOD MAC e ancora oggi mi piace moltissimo ,devo dire che ERIC CLAPTON ha fatto una sua versione molto bella in LIVE AT BALCONY .....ma questa è un'altra storia , gran bel concerto bel cd con un INDISPENSABILE DVD assolutamente consigliato
