English Electric Gravity Drain Spin Dryer 28009EEWP 5.2kg A+++

So far, and I've only had the machine just over a week, this English Electric spin dryer is great. It's quiet, doesn't move all over the floor and spins the extra water out of the washing after it comes out of the washing machine. This cuts down the time needed for tumble drying. I also use it for small amounts of hand washing such as delicate woollen items etc. It also has its own bowl for collecting the water which stores neatly in the machine when not in use. I've used spin dryers for several years in addition to a washing machine and tumble dryer, and many people seem surprised when they see it in my kitchen, saying things like "my grandma had one of those" as if it's an old fashioned item! I don't agree, as to me it makes perfect sense to get laundry extra dry. Unfortunately they're very difficult to buy on the high street, so Amazon was about the only place I could buy one. This machine replaces its 30 year old predecessor of same make and model. (Which still works, incidentally). Dont know about you but I usually find old appliances far more efficient than those available today. However in this case I have to say that English Electric have fulfilled their duty and produced a much improved spin dryer. The machine is quiet, stable in use and easy to move around. I am disabled so manoeverability is important to me. I do a lot of hand washing in between full washing loads in the main washing machine so instead of using an hours worth of electricity, I use under 2 minutes ( most often around 30 seconds) which spins the items far more efficiently than my main washer. The front gravity drain is by far an improvement on the old drainage pipe system and the fact that the bucket stores within the machine is a bonus. The safety mat (for securing items in drum during spinning) is included so no need to buy separately. The drum capacity is not huge but sufficient for bed covers, some full length curtains (depending on material) several towels or items of clothing and fleece blankets. And at a 30 second spin it is no hassle to divide a load. I would say that if your items go into the machine particularly wet (especially things like towels), keep an eye on the water flowing into the bucket. You may have to halt the spin to empty the bucket before finishing the spin. Or use a bigger bowl under the drain. I have no complaint about this as it shows the efficiency of how much water is being extracted from the load. I wanted the black version but these were out of stock everywhere so opted for the white but the fact that the machine exceeded my expectations cancels out this minor disappointment. If I had to mention something forgotten in the new design it would have to be cord storage. There is some provision but its not perfect. But this is a minor nit pick. Overall, if you want an efficient, energy and money saving machine then dont hesitate choosing this one. Delivery by the way was fast.

The English Electric Gravity Drain Spin Dryer 28009EEWP 5.2kg, is a fairly compact spin dryer. I would have preferred something a little smaller. But I needed a machine with enough capacity for double bed sheets and duvet cover, and this seems to be as small as you can go for a motorhome. But now that it has arrived, it has a killer feature, that makes it absolutely perfect for a caravan or motorhome. And oddly, it’s not something highlighted in the advertising. The advertising mentions that the water bucket stores inside the spin dryer drum, which is already handy. But it is much cleverer than that. The water bucket is shaped in such a way, that it drops into the top of the spin dryer, with the slimmer bottom section inside the top of the spin drum, and the wider top section resting on the body of the machine. You then close the lid and turn the safety lock, and the spin dryer is now ready for transport, with the spin drum safely ‘parked’. It’s genius. As for performance, the dryer is reasonably quiet, and the spin speed is high enough, that even jeans come out just hand damp. Which means the (compact) tumble dryer has them back in the wardrobe in very little time. I also like the fact that the body of the machine is plastic. I remember that my grandparents had a similar, larger spin dryer in their kitchen, and it was always rusting around the top. But times move on, and this machine should stay looking as new. The plastics body is pure white, and seems to be made of a high quality plastic. It also means that plastic body shaves a few more grams from the weight. The dryer has a couple of large recessed handles just under the top, and they make it very easy to carry the machine about. I did my research before settling on this model. All the review websites I visited had this machine in the top three recommended. Couple that with the fact that the motor is brushless, there is a two year parts and labour warranty, which you can pay to extend if you want, and English Electric are a UK (Yorkshire) company, and I am very happy with my purchase. Recommended. Especially if you are looking for a spin dryer for your caravan or motorhome.

This spinner is great. Attractive white with clear lid. It is light to lift. I had to bring it upstairs from the front door. Very simple to use. It took every ounce of water out of a towel. The towel dried overnight on an airer. Fits in my very small kitchen. Highly recommend.

We've had these spin dryers in the past, under the White Knight brand. The motor in the last one broke after about 5 years, which is probably the longest we've ever had one, so we're hoping the reliability is still as good. It comes with a 2 year warranty as standard, which can be extended to 4 or 5 years, but the cost to extend it seems excessive. There has been a significant design change, in that the body under the outlet is now concave. The collection bucket shape hasn't changed, so it's easier to get it out of position, resulting in a big puddle on the floor! In addition, the outlet seems to drip more and for longer after use than the previous model, making it more difficult to stop it dripping on the floor. Overall, it's still a good spin dryer, but I don't think the changes have been for the better.

Absolutely excellent. Incredibly quiet (compared to my old spinner) and the laundry is dry enough to iron when it comes out. It means it takes so much less time to completely dry - and less energy if you use a tumble dryer. And the little bucket has been really well designed and fits out of the way in the top of the spinner when not in use.

i do a lot of hand washing so this machine takes all the labour out of wringing the water out from the clothes and only a few minutes is needed leaving the clothes almost dry, what would take days for items of clothes to dry now takes a few hours or over night, it is quieter than a kettle boiling and sticks to the floor well without moving, British made, with a warranty, i never over load the machine just a few items and it works very well for me, it spins out more water than a conventional wash machine and cuts down the drying time by days. For delivery the machine had red plastic drum holders which are easily removed but make sure nothing falls behind the drum before first use. Unit is easy to operate, load the drum (clothes in a doughnut shape) turn the knob on the lid to start and watch the water drain out into a small bucket,, no timer so once the water is just dripping out then switch off using the knob.

Excellent product for when you have just a little handwashing, or an item the front loader refuses to spin out, or if you have something delicate you need to spin out. This machine spins at high revs, but you get to control exactly how long for. Have been using it now for several months. (Also must be highly energy efficient because to spin out in a front loader washing machine, the washing machine will be on for around 15 minutes, this free standing spin dryer can be controlled to the second!)
