Hawkins Futura 26 cm Tava, Hard Anodised Tawa with Stainless Steel Handle, Extra Thick Tawa, Black (AT26X)

I cooked regularly when I was in India but never came across this Tava. I owned a traditional Cast Iron tawa produced locally and also another non-stick tava. All in all this tava is better than either. It's production quality is top notch. Hawkins is a trusted brand. I had concerns about the metallic handle before I bought it. But in practice it is cool to the touch and has a clearly marked line beyond which it magically never heats up. The hard anodized cooking surface takes a little getting used to (if you are used to cast iron), but has great non-stick properties while not sacrificing the smooth surface finish that is required in a tava to be effective.

This product really looks good and I was eager to use it. However,after several uses, I found it tarnished very quickly despite all efforts to maintain the shine. This was disappointing. As far as functionality, the Tava works great. You have to remember to oil it after each use.

Hawkins brand has been in my family for last 50 years or so. Their products are always high quality and this tava is no exception. I was little concerned about metal handle getting hot to touch, but it does not. Thanks Amazon for selling this.

Excellent product to make Indian breads (roti, paratha). It does take time to heat up but once it is hot, it retains the heat for a long time. It is stable on the gas cooking stove and provides a uniform heating.

For some reason....after you wash it...things stick to it...I did not expect that...but once you use butter or oil on it after a wash....it works fine....???? Either that is a problem or I am doing something wrong.

I am delighted with the quality, weight, and performance of this tava. Don't compromise, just get one for yourself! You will be happy you did.

This Tava is what we wanted. It is perfect witdth and really good to make rotis (chappatis). It was worth buying this from Amazon at the price that we got. Spending a few dollars extra on ordering this from Amazon is worth saving all the hassle of buying it from India and lugging it to US.

Futura range is the best cook ware one can find. It's aluminum so heats fast and even, thickness allows to retain the heat.
