I used about 80feet of Cat-6 wire with the RJ45 end and have no loss in internet speed. **Q: Can you assign an IP address to this ethernet switch?** A: No. This is an unmanaged switch. **Q: Is this compatible with Time Warner services in New York city?** A: Yes. **Q: How often do you lose connection and have to reset the "switch" by unplugging power & plug back in?
