The product covered my gray hair I absolutely loved it I had nothing to mix. It was all in one bottle very easy to use. I’m still in shock, but it covered all my gray. I highly recommend this.

I was a little reluctant but I had to change my dying my gray hair routine because my hair was breaking off at the ends and was so frizzy? So currently I only have gray hair at the roots and I watched the video that the company had to make sure I wasdoing it right and I left mine on for 65-70min with a shower cap and a cap hair dryer that attaches to your blow dryer for about 40min alternating between cool and warm. It is a little messy and did not come with a cap to cover the hair or gloves so be aware of it took a little while to rinse it out until the water was clear. Must be done on freshly washed damp hair with NO conditioner and no washing it with shampoo for a few days. It is a dye that is semi permanent so it will fade with time. That said I do have dark brown hair and got the dark brown color and it is a little darker than I usually like but still looks good and with the idea it will fade a little it will probably be ok. We'll see I may have to get the chocolate color next time. I have mid back length hair and almost used the entire bottle but not all of it. Next time I may use plastic wrap and wrap that around my head instead of the shower cap

Been using this brand about a year because regular dye causes my scalp to burn. This definitely does not. It covers my gray hairs temporarily then washes out after a couple weeks. I have dark brown hair so the grays are now a much lighter brown, permanently which looks a lot like highlights. It's really non-toxic which I have searched for without success with traditional dyes. I keep it in for over an hour so it will stay longer. I dab lotion around my hairline and onto my hands before applying to prevent staining. Wear gloves when applying. If you don't use it all in one application you can put the top on and use it again for next application.

I've recently tried coloring my stubborn grays using the 2-step process of pure henna and indigo. But it's such a long process for how quickly it fades and leaves my grays brassy-looking. So I decided to try this Surya Henna In dark brown. It colored better than I thought. I left it in for about an hour and a half. I used my own gloves because none came in the box. Also, I did a rinse out conditioner for 10 min because my hair felt a little stiff and dry afterward. I like the results. And will use it again.

I am saddened to write that this product is no longer acceptable. Discovered this product a couple of years ago at Trader Joe’s and was really happy to have found something I could use at home that was safe and healthy for my hair. At first, everything went well. Then I noticed twice that the product seemed to last less time and required more frequent application. Gloves were missing from the packages as well, in spite of clearly still appearing on the attached instructions leaflet. Decided to order a different batch, this time directly from Amazon. No gloves again and had to use two packages instead of one on my medium length hair. After multiple consecutively disappointing purchases, I decided to stop using this product.

I’ve been using this the past few years and notice it has much better coverage of greys than normal henna powder. No mixing necessary, the henna dye is much easier and faster to apply. Just like regular henna, i leave it in my hair for about 6 hours to take full effect. In the past i tried recommended time frame and it didn’t take to my hair. Washed out after the first wash. So now i leave for 6 hours. No ill effects from this. It fully takes to my hair and won’t fully wash out for about 2.5 months, which is how often i re-dye my hair anyway. It starts out rather dark and fades to a nice rich brown after a few washes. Buying on Amazon is usually cheaper than in store, but i do find that this brand can be found at most health food stores I’ve searched. I use griffin remedy color safe shampoo to maintain the color. I usually wash my hair 2 times per week so as to maintain the color longer, otherwise it might fade after about a month. I will continue buying this brand for the foreseeable future as all the other henna dye powders seem less effective on my greys. If you have a decent amount of grey, you will like this product. Just make sure to totally saturate down to the root and let sit for 6 hours. I know it’s annoying but i usually sleep with it in and put down an old towel to protect my bedding. Then i wake up and shower to rinse it out. Works like a charm.

I love how it makes my hair really soft and shinny. It covers all my greys as well! The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that it rinses out fast. The color runs the moment your hair gets wet. Imagine being in a hot yoga class a few days after you use this and the color starts running all over the place...so yea that sucks...

Before buying this, I was doing a 2 henna powder kit that basically took all day and when washed out turned my roots orange. I was a bit skeptical about this product based on a few reviews and the bottle was small but surprisingly it covered all my hair and turned it dark brown with a bit of red streaking but not much - likely because I focused on the roots and covered the rest sparingly as I didn't think there would be enough. It would be nice to have a little bit bigger bottle but so far I am pleased with the results so I gave it 5 stars. It covered the grey nicely and even a friend commented how nice it looks. I love the color and it feels nice. We wlll see how long the color lasts.
