Hi, it cannot set a knob adjust drag brake, there is cannot set up ESC by radio system menu.

Can this be set up to control two different rc cars? if so, how do i do that? do i need to purchase a second receiver?

First, you need two R6FG receivers, install them on two RC cars, and match the R6FG receiver and the RC4GS transmitter with a match code (long press the side match code button, the green button is always on).
Second, if you need to set different parameters for the two RC cars, you need to press the Exit and Enter button at the same time to enter the menu, then set Mode1 and Mode2 for your two RC cars in the model selection in the second item, and Adjust the number you want.
Third,After you control the RC car1, if you want to control the RC car2, just turn off the power of the RC car1, turn on the power of the car2, and only need to perform once match code operation between each R6FG and RC4GS.Of course, if you have different settings, switch Mode1 or Mode2.

If you need 3 position switch to control a winch, you need choosing the RC6GS 6CH Radio which have One push button switch / one knob switch and two three position switches，and the RC6GS have better control range could get 600m+.

Is there a sound system on the radio or receiver?Im into competitive rc cars and don’t want sound effects,also looks like a very promising good radio

Hi, there is no sounds effect you when you pull the throttle, steering or other channels switches, except when you press the Menu buttons, there is with D sounds, and the volume is small, will not affect you when you are in the competion. The receiver only with LED light, no sounds. 
By the way, this radio with Alaming system to protect your battery,  if you do not want to turn on, you should go to the Menu ALARM to setting the value to less:  the : RX(Receiver battery) , TX(radio's battery), EXT(vehicles battery) , RSSI (off), that would be no alarming.
