Good quality but taste is strong
Good quality maca powder and easy to mix into smoothies or yogurt. I noticed more energy during the day, but the taste is quite strong and takes some time to get used to.

Definitely something to this
I was reading about hormone balance and came across Maca root and all the positive effects it can have, so bought some. Took an entire bag before posting, want to be sure I’m not experiencing a placebo effect. Read the reviews too, a big thank you to *Em* and her grandmother, her review had me googling how to properly take this. Maca root is like potatoes: if you don’t cook it first, you’ll have stomach aches. You must cook it to get the benefits. I put a teaspoon daily into my coffee. At first it was strange, definitely overpowers coffee taste and is unusual, not unpleasant but not familiar either. The first 3 cups (over 3 days) were a bit hard to swallow, especially since some ‘sandy’ mixture with slight crunchiness was left over in my cup, but I downed it!! Now my coffee tastes strange without it. So after my first bag, into my second, I’ve bought a third as it does give a boost of energy. It steadied my blood sugar. Fasting but with a cup of coffee my blood sugar is typically 72mg/dL. With cup of coffee and Maca root my blood sugar levels ranged from 90mg/dL through to 70mg/dL over the course of 6 hours. So it’s a complex carb for sure! Mood: I’ve been told that I’m more energetic, I feel it too. My body has been through some rough problems, won’t go into details (groooossss) BUT doctors couldn’t figure it out, now it’s just resolved. NOT saying this stuff is a miracle**Saying likely something in my body was lacking and this probably is taking care of it. I’m on depression meds too. This has me feeling stable. Weird thing to read if you don’t have depression, can’t explain it! And I feel sexual again! Can I say that? Don’t sensor me please…there is no real female viagra, let me share this with my sisters! All in all, I’m going to keep taking this, and keep evaluating my labs, will update if changes happen!

Love but half empty
Okay, so I'll address what other reviewers have said in a minute but my 4 stars and not 5 is because the package was not full. I have noticed in a lot of packages, bottles etc. that items are often half empty. Why not either make the package smaller (thus reducing packaging costs) or add more product and raise the price? If the company can tell me why the package is almost half empty - like "it needs the air in it" then fine, but otherwise it just seems wasteful and misleading. Now onto what (some) reviewers don't like about it. 1. If you're looking for something that tastes lovely and sweet, this probaby isn't for you, I personally love the taste of maca but most people that eat the SAD (Standard American Diet) have their taste buds so overwhelmed with overly sweet stuff that when they taste something naturally sweet but with no additives - they don't like it - often think it's not sweet enough - or I like to say not "fake" enough. OR, you could just not like the taste of maca and be a total health guru - that's fine - my point is, maca is maca - you're either going to like it or not - not really the company's fault. 2. Texture - if you don't like things with a kind of peanut buttery texture - you won't like this - maca is grainy - like REALLY grainy - I don't care - I like it - I'm a "give me texture" kind of gal :-) given crunchy or smooth? I go for crunchy all the time - I like to think it's the bohemian in me ha ha. 3. Digestion issues? It takes time to build up to some of these "superfoods" don't over do it. Start witih a teaspoon into a smoothie - or yogurt - or oatmeal - maybe stay at a teaspoon - more is ONLY good if you feel better with "more" less is more if you pay attention to your body. 4. I love maca - maybe I should create a bumper sticker with that? I used to work at an herbal store called the herb shop in Austin, TX and I sold this stuff. Most of the people coming in for it were coming in for increased libido (I kid you not) or people who wanted more muscle mass from their workouts (who doesn't). That's it, those are my points of what I have to say. I love maca - overall I think this brand/company is good except for it not putting enough maca in the bag but then again, I think all companies do that unfortunately.
