This is a pop on top, not a screw on! If it's upright and the lid is tightly pressed on with no straw in it and the cap is pressed tight, then it's Splash proof. On it's side it will leak, so don't pack it in a gym bag thinking that it won't leak! ( Edit-To their credit they don't advertise it as leak proof but splash proof)We ordered 2, 40oz Beast Tumblers and loved the large capacity (Edit-actually measured it. Filled water to the max line where the lid can still be pressed on without spilling, and it's 34oz, not 40oz) and it seemed well made (Royal Blue and Purple) so we ordered another one as a gift. I'm so thankful that I had it sent to our house and not to the gift recipient's house (he's coming here to visit us) because when it was delivered I opened it to check out the Black color, which they didn't have when we ordered ours. I'm so glad I did because the tumbler had raised sharp spots, which thankfully was small enough that it didn’t cut my finger but instead just scratched it. I contacted Jenn right away, apparently the only "customer service" rep for this company, about the defective tumbler and she offered a 30% discount! Really?! What part of defective, and it was a gift, and I don't want to keep it or give it as a gift didn’t she understand? It's not about the money, its about giving a nice gift in new condition! Since they supposedly had a lifetime warranty, I figured it's no big deal for them to send another one and I can throw away the defective one, or return it at their expense, especially since I just received it that day, 1/19/23. Now Jenn no longer responds to my emails and doesn't answer the phone. (Edit-Jenn emailed me, 1/30, saying will send a replacement! Don't appreciate being ignored until my review finally got their attention, and now they apparently want to buy me off! Thanks, but no thanks! People should know what happened, so this review is staying! Also, you're welcome, all of you who will have future customer service issues. I'm sure they'll be more responsive from here on out because of this review and all the other negative reviews warning people that their "Customer Service" and "Lifetime Warranty" is non existent. I just noticed a review saying how great customer service was and it was dated after my review posted. ) There you have it folks, don't expect that they'll honor their so called lifetime warranty because they wouldn't even resolve my defective tumbler issue the day I received it and contacted them. No big deal because it's an inexpensive product, but what is a big deal is their false advertising that they have a lifetime warranty on their products, which persuades a lot of people to buy their tumblers instead of another company's tumbler. (Edit-Not 40oz, but 34oz, also false advertising) The biggest disappointment and the part that I'm most upset about is that it was supposed to be a nice gift for someone else. The positive thing that came out of all this is now we know the truth about them and their products, and now you know too. We won't be buying from them again, which I actually thought about getting one in every color. Thank God now I know, and I wont be giving anymore money to this company. I'm also thankful that the defective gift wasn't sent to the recipient's house. Can you imagine? Who wants a defective gift and how embarrassing to send a defective gift without knowing it, which is what would have happened had I not had it delivered to my place so that I could give it in person! It's embarrassing how we ranted and raved about how great this company and their tumblers are. Thankfully we now know better how pitiful their "customer service" is, that Jenn doesn't respond or care about making it right if a customer receives a defective one, their lifetime warranty is suspect when they didn't even make it right the day we received it, and you can't trust that your tumbler will come in new condition without defects and scratches. We will use our tumblers until the lid or handle breaks, but we definitely will not buy another one as a gift or for ourselves. Here are the pros and cons to help you with your tumbler purchase decision:PROS-Outside isn't hot even when you have hot tea inside, so I'm assuming it doesn't sweat either. -Keeps hot 2Hrs, stays warm 4Hrs, 8Hrs is hype. I don't know about cold because I use mine for hot tea only. -fits in our cup holder, but handle is too long so doesn't fit tight and you have to adjust handles away from you so when driving it won't wobble. Car is a 2023 Chevy Tahoe for reference, and with 2 tumblers. (See Pic) -outside seems scratch resistant and sturdy (Royal Blue and Purple) because we've had ours since 11/28/22 and it has been placed and removed in our sofa metal cupholders many times and there are no scratches.-Handle is comfortable, but too long, depending on your cup holder's depth.-Handle comes off so you can position it however you want. It's plastic, so I worry about it breaking, but so far so good.CONS-Dont buy it with the expectation of a Lifetime Warranty. Jenn hasn't replaced the defective one and I contacted her minutes after it was delivered. -Jenn, seems to be their only "customer service" rep and doesn't respond if you have any issues. (Edit-ignored me, and now, 1/30, she is responding. Not taking down this negative review just because she is finally offering to do the right thing. They have no credibility now) -definitely don't send as a gift because you don't know if the gift recipient will receive a scratched or defective one. -leaks, the lid is a pop top not a screw on, so don't put in a gym bag on its side, unless you want the inside of your bag all wet. -It's basically splash proof when it's upright, if you make sure you press the lid down tightly and you don't have a straw in it -Lid is very difficult to take off because it's a pop off and not a screw on. Definitely don't try to take it off with any liquids in it or you'll be wearing it. -have to buy a handle for the 40oz because it's too heavy to hold and manage without it, especially in a car -I haven't used the straws, because if you do, it's no longer splash proof because the opening has gaps when a straw is in it. -handles are necessary for a 40oz, see above comments, and they are Out of Stock until March 1st.! Jenn on 1/19 said a few weeks for the handles. Thank you Amazon for being honest and saying Mar 1st. (Edit-40 oz handles are now, 1/27, available. On 1/19 they were not and Amazon at the time said Mar 1st delivery. So, I will give Jenn credit on this issue) -Wide top, so it's difficult to put 2 of these in a car cup holder next to each other. They fit in ours when we place both the handles facing the windshield. (See Pic) Side by side it's 10 inches across with handles on them. Without handles it's 9 inches side by side. -Instead of straws it would have been nice to have the handle included, since a handle is necessary for the heavy 40oz tumbler as mentioned, and if you use a straw it's no longer splash proof because of the gap when a straw is inserted. -Your lid, the stainless band, the handle inside, and the top part of the tumbler inside will come scratched too, (See Pic) for whatever reason. (Maybe they just resend out the returns?) All 3 of ours came this way. It didn't bother me enough to reach out to "customer service", because I figured with use it will end up scratched anyway. The only reason I reached out about the Black one, arriving with raised sharp spots on the outside, is because this was a gift for someone else and because it indicates that the coating on the outside was compromised, since clearly it wasn't sprayed on properly and left raised sharp spots, (See Pic) which may change the insulation or sweat proof/not hot factor of the tumbler on the outside.-Our 2 tumblers with 2 handles came in 4 boxes! So much for not being wasteful!Hope this info helps others to manage their expectations about how the tumblers will arrive, their lifetime warranty, and their "customer service" rep. Thankfully this wasn't an expensive lesson and now I know I can't trust the company , their products arriving in immaculate condition, their product not being defective, and their so called "customer service". I will say the flip back on the lid is not so great. I waffled back and forth on whether to give 4 or 5 stars. I won't penalize the cup over the stopper not grabbing the lid to stay in place. That isn't a big deal for me because I always drink out of a straw. I will say I have put this cup in the dishwasher several times now and it has stood up as advertised. I own a Yeti, a Magellan, and a Walmart brand stainless cup. This one is equally as good as those as far as keeping ice and your drink cold. The problem I had with all of those cups (except the Walmart brand) is the yuck that seems to settle in the bottom of the cup. I can only guess this is from the dishwasher. This cup has no signs of that yet. I drink iced tea in my cups exclusively. Water may go in if there is no tea available.For the money, this is worth the purchase. I have been using it regularly since I bought it in early July. I like that it comes with straws and a straw cleaner.
