I’m very impressed with the TayMac MM420C 1-Gang Extra Duty Weatherproof In-Use Cover. It’s built with strong, high-impact polycarbonate, so it feels very durable and able to handle harsh outdoor conditions without cracking or fading. One of the best features is the “in-use” design—you can keep something plugged in while the cover stays closed and protected from rain. The 16-in-1 configuration makes it super versatile and compatible with different outlet types, including GFCI setups. Installation was quick and easy thanks to the keyhole mounting system, and it can be mounted either horizontally or vertically depending on your setup. The clear cover is also a nice touch—you can easily see the outlet status without opening it. Overall, it’s a reliable, heavy-duty solution for protecting outdoor electrical outlets. Does the job, and is deep enough to even hold a usb charger cube. The only drawback I see is that it only is capable of opening on one side. I would have liked to be able to switch the hinge to the opposite site (there are some that allows this). It was easy to install and you don't have to completely pull out the socket to install the cover, becuase it has a slotted opening that allows you to slip it over the existing screws.

Installed this over a 1-gang exterior box and it’s exactly what you want for an in-use cover. The housing is solid, seals well, and doesn’t feel like brittle plastic that’s going to crack the first cold winter. The horizontal/vertical mounting flexibility is a big plus, and there’s plenty of room inside for cords without forcing the cover or stressing the seal. Gasket fits properly, screws tighten evenly, and everything lines up the way it should — no fighting it during install. Rated Extra Duty for a reason. Once it’s mounted, it stays closed, stays sealed, and does its job. Costs a little more than the cheap covers, but this is one of those “buy it once” items that’s worth it. Would absolutely use these again.

Happy with the cover. Extra duty, in-use slots, now compliant. Here is my way of removing that stubborn pin: Take a small, thin flathead screwdriver, wedge it between the pin head and the clear door hinge, and carefully twist and wiggle to create separation. Once you have enough clearance, take a bigger flathead screwdriver, wedge it in and carefully twist and wiggle more. At a certain point, you should be able to carefully pull the pin out with your thumb and fingers.

A good solution for a more robust child-proof electrical outlet. Most AU outlet plates will be too big to fit inside so some DIY modifications are required. I recommend using low-profile outlets to maximize cable clearance.

Es una pieza que protege a los contactos en exteriores de filtraciones y posibles cortos accidentales. Se colocan sobre la caja de contactos existente. Yo batalle un poco porque en mi caso la caja de contactos que tengo no es a ras de pared sino sobresale; por lo que tuve que hacer algunos ajustes para que quedara bien sellada; no es defecto del producto sino una situación particular que al final de cuentas pude resolver (sin gastar más). El kit cuenta con un par de placas removibles que se ajustan a los diferentes tipos de contactos en el mercado, así como los tornillos que son estándares para fijarlos a las placas. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Used to make sure my freezer is never unplugged by my infant. It works great and now I never have to worry that the cord was tugged on because the clear box allows me to see inside. Way sturdier than other babyproofing outlet covers.
