A: No, a person cannot write and erase on this clipboard. This is not a dry easel.

**Q: Can these be used as a dry erase board?  I need a wsterproif dry erase board**
A: Actually, I marked mine with my initials using permanent marker and it didn't last at all so I think it might work! It won't last, though.

**Q: Is the backside matte?**
A: I'm not hip to all definitions of matte, so I'll answer with what I do know. It's plastic front and back. Hope that helps.

I mean, this is just a cheap clipboard, which is what I needed to take to the gym with and hold my printed workouts so I can record my results. Probably it isn't made to last forever and will crack at some point, but it was less than $5.00, so I'm not expecting much. It works as I need it to, it's as slim as possible without a bunch of stuff sticking above the top, and holds a skinny mechanical pencil tightly so I know it's not going to fall out in my bag. Just what I was looking for!
