Q: Once the worms make it to the top do you reuse them and put them back in the bottom tray or do you get new worms?

Of course, you can reuse them. Normally, when most of the worm go to the top trays, the bottom tray has very few worms. Then you can harvest the casting at the very bottom tray. After you harvest the bottom tray and clean it, you can put it on the top as a top tray. At this time , the original 2nd bottom becomes the very bottom tray. You leave the worms in the system, and they will still stay, live and compost in the system.

Q: How many red worms do you need to order for this product?

To begin with, we suggest starting with 1000 pcs or 1 lbs of red worms. Please feel free to let us know if you have more questions. Thanks.

Q: Can you use nightcrawlers instead of red wigglers?

Red Wigglers are called compost worms. They feed on scraps buried in soil. Scraps buried prevent things like fruit flys. They also re-produce faster than nightcrawlers. Night Crawlers are top feeders. I would stick to using Night Crawlers for fish bait.

Q: What are the dimensions of the worm farm?

Each tray is 17"x17"x5". The volume is the same as the ones in the market such as the worm factory and the original VermiHut. When all 5 trays are stacked, it is about 33" including the base. We make the VermiHut Plus tray wider and little bit shorter so that it has less pressure and more area for air-flow. The VermiHut Plus design is an improvement compared to the original VermiHut and the Worm Factory.
