The outlet tester was good, it worked like it should. However the Voltage Detector was very poorly made. The one I bought was very hard to stick into an outlets positive to test and when I tried to pull it out it nearly broke apart. The design of the actual detector is not very well thought out. Also I was also sent an additional one for free which was nice but this one was even worse because the housing for the battery was so tight that I had to physically bend the metal inside the housing to allow the batteries to fit inside and the item would not turn on. So if I had made this purchase specifically for the Voltage Detector I would have given a 1-star rating however since I mainly ordered this for the outlet tester I am giving it a three. It would have been nice to be able to purchase the outlet tester separately so that my money didn't go to waste with having a defective Voltage Detector.

This tester is a must have when you are working on projects round the house. My hubby is an electrician and always has this type of tool around. We looked at this one and found it to be very accurate. It gave results as expected each time we tried it. This tester was easy to use and figure out. It will tell you immediately if there is power running through area tested. Helps keep you safe while doing your projects. I do property evaluations for a property management company and need to test all electrical outlets. This has been a great product for me and works wonderfully. I love that it has a key right on the tester to tell you what the issue is with each outlet. I haven't used the voltage pen much yet, but that is because my job doesn't yet call for it, but I am a fan of the flashlight on the pen, which I use when I'm in basements that don't have electric. I've only been using these for two weeks, but seems like they will hold up. It's a great price for two products.

I've done numerous minor electrical work in the past (ceiling fans, lights, outlet replacements, etc.) but always relied on the fact that I had the breaker switched off correctly. Being that I have taken on more of these electrical procedures a bit more frequently lately, I decided to have a little more back up to protect me. Not only protection, but some guidance! These two items were priceless for me. Not only can you test for power, you can check to be sure you wired in your outlet properly! 5 stars, great items, friendly seller, would advise to anyone doing electrical work!

They give you an extra voltage detector as a gift for shopping with them but it didn't work so I guess its a gamble if these things work or not....give them two? :) Anyways, the other worked so can't complain.

The voltage detector could definitely be more sensitive. It seemed to have trouble detecting hot wires through romex in the sheath. It works. It's just noticeably less sensitive than other ones I've tried.
