Bought these as replacements for the factory tweeter/mid-woofer set that was obviously damaged in my car. I would say that I am better than your average shade tree car stereo installer if that helps anyone. First off the package was much smaller than i expected and there is a bunch packed into it tightly. Be careful unpacking. The mid-woofer has a rubber surround which I noticed first off. The terminals for the speakers are somewhat flimsy but almost all JBL speakers I have used since 1986 have this similar design. Be careful placing the speaker terminals on. Soldering would be better but getting the terminal hot could cause other issues. the tweeter is about the diameter of a quarter only 1/2" tall. It comes with so many different mounting devices for the tweeter that you should not have any issues mounting them just about anywhere. I used the universal star looking ones and broke off some perforated tabs to make it fit into the factory location using the factory mounting brackets for the originals. The screw terminals on the crossover makes it easier to hook without adding other connector hardware (slide terminals, etc.). The only real complaint was trying to figure out which terminal on the tweeter is positive. It comes with a pigtail cable already soldered in and about 6" of wire. Turns out after some digging that the wire with the black stripe (hard to see) is actually the negative (-) wire. Hope this helps. Once mounted these sound really good. My cavernous door panel could use some insulation behind it to help improve the mid-bass sound but that's being overly critical. The tweeter is clean and does not fatigue the hearing at higher volumes. I love them and would recommend them. Oh yeah I am only pushing them with factory deck power so 14+ watts....still sound very very good. Be sure to use the crossovers provided or they will sound horrible. Take care in wiring the crossover also if not wired correctly these will definitely not sound right and will do damage. Be sure to check out the helpful videos on JBL website before buying and purchasing. For the price this is an amazing value.

These are some of the most efficient speakers on the market, with 3 ohm resistance and 91db sensitivity. I did not add an amp to the 1991 head unit, which produces just 12 watts per channel at low-distortion levels - and with this speaker setup, I don't need an amp to get great sound loud enough you'd have to shout to converse with your passenger. Sound improvement over the prior setup - which included stock separates in front and a prior owner's upgrade in rear - was substantial. But to be fair to the JBL's, if you added a small amp you'd get a lot of bass just from the 5 1/4" woofers in this kit. Fit-wise, these speakers are a conservative buy, an ideal size for older Euro compact and subcompact cars. Shallow depth enables fitment into much smaller speaker holes with no modification. Woofer cone is much bigger than many 5 1/4" speakers - JBL really uses all he available space inside the mounting frame. Woofer lip is fairly big, allowing maximum throw to push out the sound waves. This also means you may need to modify your stock speaker covers, as any OEM speaker of the same size will have a smaller speaker element and little if any protrusion. This kit includes a wide array of tweeter mounting bits, which can be very helpful when fitting into OEM tweeter covers. After tearing the old tweeters out of their window-corner trim mounts, I was able to trim the soft plastic pieces of the closest-fitting adapters and refit with Velcro into the OEM trim pieces, completely hiding the upgrade in the original trim of the car.

Great for the price, should buy if any one needs to replace old speakers. Loud , nice and tight bass......just replace after market speakers with these and so far I'm happy they sound better than the old ones, need to use an amp to push them ...the only con is that they don't come with a bracket and grill....but they sound sweet and loud..
