I noted the reviews that said something along the lines of "you get what you pay for." My experience is as follows: - I received the controllers, hooked them up to a raspberry pi emulator, and tested the units - The units worked, but performance was unpredictable and inconsistent - I reached out to the vendor (kiwitata). The vendor responded fairly promptly, and sent replacement controllers. - The replacement controllers worked much better, and we've had no issues with them. To sum up, I appreciated the vendor's effort to resolve the issue promptly. Following is the vendor's email response: Dear Adam, Thanks for your contact. And we apologize for the inconvenience caused to u. We’ve contacted you on Aug 13 and hope to solve this issue after we saw your 3 star feedbacks on Amazon. But message undelivered. Yes, the D-pad seems defective. We are willing to re-send one set to you for replacement free of charge. You are also not need to return the defective ones. The new set has been improved by our factory. Please see attached controller printed “Kiwitata” logo. The appearance of the controllers is the same with the one you got. But it is not the same. The improved one is made of new mold and the one you buy that is made of old mold. The difference between the two is: 1. Materials are not the same. The material of the new one is ABS. Good gloss, especially A B button. 2. The new one will be more texture. It is a little bit heavier than the old one. High quality feel. 3. The new version button function is more accurate, faster response. 4. The main difference is the electronic components inside the circuit board are not the same. The functional modules have been improved. We will not let disappointed again. The tracking number will be provided to you tomorrow. Controllers work great. They feel good and seem to be really well made. Buttons are very responsive. Honestly just as good as the more expensive ones I’ve bought before. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Kiwitata CS rapidly contacted me following the post of the initial review. They offered me to send me new controllers free of charge in place of the first set that doesn't meet my expectations. They shipped the new set rapidly and I try them upon reception to find that they are really better than the first one I received. The d-pad build is more robust, but at the same time the feeling is more smooth, no clunky sound anymore on the new set. Using them with Raspberry Pi 3 emulation was nice and precise, and as a Kodi remote I don't have to complain. These controllers are not perfect, but they are almost on part with other gamepad sold on Amazon for twice the price. Yes there is some better gamepad on the market, but they are way more expensive. In the end, this price for a pair of controllers that quality, you can't beat it. Best price for the buck vs very good quality level. Be advised that this updated review is for the Kiwitata gamepad with coloured buttons (red, yellow, green and blue), not for the purple ones. Kiwitata have a great CS, I appreciate it. Kiwitata m'a rapidement contacté suivant ma review initiale négative. Ils m'ont offert de m'expédier sans frais une nouvelle version du gamepad, celle que j'aurais dû normalement recevoir. L'envoi a été fait rapidement et j'ai essayé les nouveaux gamepad à leur réception. Juste en comparant les deux versions il est évident que la nouvelle (avec les boutons de couleurs rouge, jaune, vert et bleu) est plus solide et que le d-pad est plus stable tout en donnant une sensation plus douce, et sans faire de bruit douteux. L'utilisation des nouveaux gamepads sur un émulateur Raspberry Pi est correct et l'utilisation dans Kodi comme télécommande ne pose pas problème. Évidemment ces gamepads ne sont quand même pas parfaits, mais ils s'approchent beaucoup de gamepads de haute qualité vendu par d'autres fournisseurs pour le double du prix; il existe d'autres gamepads qui sont meilleurs, mais ils sont beaucoup plus cher. En fin de compte pour le niveau de qualité qui, est relativement très bon, des nouveaux gamepad, le rapport qualité prix est imbattable. Cette review a été mise à jour pour les nouveaux gamepads avec les boutons de couleurs, et ne s'applique pas aux gamepads avec les boutons lilas et violets. Kiwitata a un service à la clientèle très proactif, ce qui est apprécié.

Worked straight away right out the box. No fuss, No installation just simply plug and play. Feels like the original controller with great feedback from the buttons.

These controllers were perfectly fine for the price. The D-pad is not the most precise so it makes the execution of precision-combos more difficult for fighting games but won't cause any grief, however, for platforming games. Otherwise, the buttons work and the response time is no worse than using high-dollar console controllers (Think PS or XBOX), latency issues are more likely to be from the actual emulation than the controllers. The build-quality is average with some plastic rubbing sounds but, the cables are sturdy and long enough. You can definitely buy a better SNES-style controller elsewhere on amazon but you have to spend more money. As they say though, you get what you pay for and that goes for this product as well. I am still satisfied though as it fulfills my needs perfectly for the types of games I play and everything works. The price to quality ratio is just right especially considering you get two controllers. If you must have the most precise controller possible for fighting games, spend more. Otherwise these will do just fine. If I were comparing it directly against competing products I would give it 3 stars but in terms of personal satisfaction, I give it 4.
