Can you use this dome as a lid for longer cooking times ?

You can leave the cover on long as you like. The handle will get hot as it is medal, but use a oven mitt to lift it. It simply sets on the grill or a pan as a lid with ample space to cover a taller item. You can also lift the lid and put water under the cover to produce steam.

How do you remove the tape residue left from from the cardboard cover without scratching the dome?

I sprayed brake clean on wipe off and wash in soap and water done deal

Bought this item for making smash burgers. They work very weel, metal is thick and they are straight. They keep well the steam under the dome, they are sturdy and easy to clean. I like this product and I recommend it.

Good quality. Bad quality control

Great size and built well. It will get plenty of use. Not that this matters entirely, however the logo stamped on one side is in rough shape. I suspect quality control missed it. But it does not hurt functionality. It may or may not matter to you.
