Can I heat this with a heat gun? My painting teacher requires this, but I can't fit my painting into the oven to bake at 300"

Hello! I'm sorry, but you can't bake with a heat gun. It is unsafe and may cause injury. The manufacturer recommends baking in the oven at a temperature of 300 degrees Celsius. This will achieve the desired effect, uniform baking and quality.

Is this paint food safe?

I would not recommend eating on top of fired porcelaine paints! Ornamental usage only!
