This oil is perfect: viscous enough to stay whete you put it but light enough to be easily spread on the blade; it dries quickly without leaving a sticky residue, yet blades that have been treated will resist fingerprints and repel dust for days. I love shiny, satin finish blades, and I love the even shinier mirror finish blades when I can find them, but they are susceptible to finger prints when handled. Leave those print on a shiny blade long enough and the acidic skin oil will permanently discolor the steel. Satin/mirror blades that have had this oil applied, however, behave like stonewashed blades, i.e., they will not pick up finger prints at all. It's really quite remarkable and wonderful. One more positive feature of this oil: it can be applied to blades with a partial black coating w/o staining the coating. In other words, the plain metal portions of a blade that need oil can get it, and the black coated portions aren't left with a big, greasy smeer.
