Does this unit vacuum up the dirt that it scrubs loose from a tile floor?

No, this unit does not pick up anything. It has a dispenser for releasing liquid (water, soap, etc) but no pick up. That said, it does an excellent job of scrubbing and I typically follow my work with a mop and it turns out great.

Seller Will you please explain what this part of the description? The scrub brushes are not recommended for wood floors or carpet.?

There are I believe 3 different types of brushes. You don't use the heavy duty brushes on wood floors as they would scratch the floors, don't use this specific brush on carpets as it would damage the fibers. One of the other brushes are perfect for those. The instructions are much more clear.

Is this able to be used to strip and WAX hardwood floors?

I haven't with this machine but one similar it worked i believe it will work with this one
