Why does the description say not for RVs? Has anyone tried this with a motorhome or trailer with success?

We use it on the back of a 31 foot RV trailer. No issues and velcro straps secure it. It's is a tight fit for 4 bikes though... we also use it on our suv and it's great.

Does it fold for storing?

Yes the rack part folds down. It still takes a bit of space though.
