Freaked out the postal carrier and a hit at our family Christmas gathering
Christmas evening this year saw my family gathered near the pretty lit tree, a Nativity scene atop the entertainment center and packages being handed out all around. Seven little mystery bags--one for each household--held these little critters. The gathering quickly went from a happy peaceful time to all-out monkey warfare. Hey, who says only single-digit ages can have fun with Christmas presents? OK, my daughter was a little miffed that both her hubby and brother ganged up on her. But since they'd traveled across the country to be together, I opted not to shoot down their male bonding. This is a fun little unexpected gift that makes faces light up with laughter (most of the time). The only problem is the "pockets" on the monkey's hands where you place your fingers to shoot it just aren't very big--and I have small fingers. Apparently, everyone figured out how to use their monkeys anyway. This gift also lent itself to a lot of primate fun. Before the party was over, we were subjected to monkeys screaming, flying and yes, being spanked. As another reviewer mentioned, monkeys can start screaming before they're even out of their shipping containers. Our postal carrier had such a weird look on her face when she delivered the box. "What's that noise?" she asked me. "Is somebody calling turkeys or something?" I hadn't heard anything and concluded my poor frazzled mail lady had gone bonkers from the stress of the season. Then I heard the screech of the monkey and laughed out loud. We ordered several monkeys and their masks and capes came in both red and black, so be prepared to take what you get. Personally it didn't matter to me at all. This was such a fun gift. Highly recommended for families with a sense of humor, friends, teachers or professors with tenure.

These are awsome
I like buying my niece the most annoying gifts I can find to annoy my brother. Anything that is loud, requires assembly, or will make a mess. These are my criteria. I googled most annoying Christmas presents and this wonderful toy came up on the list. The other reviews I read said this was the devils toy. Horribly annoying. Well that sold me I bought a dozen. Gave them to all the kids in my family cousins, nieces, second cousins, her nephews. Holy cow was Christmas Eve and Day a trip. I mean there were flying monkeys everywhere screeching, smacking into people. O how I laughed and still am as I write this. The kids loved em and I'm amazed at how durable they are, how far they fly, and how much noise they make. This thing screeches. It is simply the most awesome thing. The bigger kids(myself included) enjoyed them just as much as the rest. After testing the annoying value on my family, I sent my brother 2, then 2 flying chickens, then a flying cow, and I think a frog. My cousins husband who is around my age went downstairs for Xmas day to see what the kids were playing with from santa, but wait no he's got the flying monkey and smacks him you know where. I simply laughed even more. Overall, I think this gift rocks and everyone should have them. The kids will play with them til they break I can guarantee that. Kudos to the maker of this item!!! Hope this helps in your shopping for your friends and relatives kids. hahahhahaha

Love it!
I purchased two of the Flingshot Slingshot Flying Screaming Monkeys and love them. I "removed" the plastic pull on one and hubby and I had a great time with it today. I am saving the second for a stocking stuffer for my son (43 years old). I expect mine will be slung around whenever anyone comes over. It does prove to be just a little difficult to place the fingers into the hand pockets before pulling the tail to sling the Screaming Monkey but once you get it you have to try again and again. My cat, Huckleberry, is not thrilled with it. Too bad Huck! 12-22-12: Since we've all survived the apocolypse I wanted to share a wonderful thing about our little monkey; it is not necessary to fit your fingers into the hand pockets and pull the tail to make the monkey fly and scream; all you have to do is simply throw him across the room or to an empty chair of sofa, or to another person. And behold! The monkey screams. He's a big hit at my house.

No woot monkey but it will do for the kids.
This is the cheap version of the woot monkey I was looking for. I ordered a couple because they were so cheap. I had to go to EBay for the real Woot monkey but this thing is great. A couple of pulls made the fur from the hands pull back just slightly so i had to mark down the durability but this thing seems to have lasted my kids for several weeks already. It does make the monkey sounds, this thing shoots the 50 ft as advertised, and it just plain good fun. I recommend the product as a great gag gift for adults or gift for kids or party favors but again, if you are looking for a true Woot Monkey go to ebay.

Cute monkey flying through the air, screaming!
This was something of a gag gift for my young Marine son. He and his older brother flung the poor monkey at each other, all over the house, for a week and it held up fine. This is not a quiet toy, but loud. It sounds like a high-pitched howler monkey to me, not that I'm and expert at monkey calls, despite having 2 boys. You can also make it scream by whacking it against your hand...or a hard surface. Would be good to take out frustrations on, but I think if you are that close to the edge, the screaming might send you right over. On the other hand, this would be an excellent gift for a kid when you want to drive their parents crazy. (Come on, admit it! You look for stuff like this to annoy your brother in law) I think the monkey is cute, myself, with his little mask and cape. Little kids will find it fun, while adults might tire quickly of the racket it makes. Overall, an inexpensive, clever, and fun toy that will liven up any group for at least a little while.

This was sent as a funny for my son turning 13. Not happy.
I'm in the middle of a nasty divorce and fighting for custody of my son. He turns 13 on the 12th so I thought by him a little bit of inexpensive annoying toys for him to drive his dad and grandparents insane. I did the Bob Ross and screaming goat where you push the buttons and I thought wow screaming monkey when you slingshot it this is the best this is what I'm going to get. I ask my son today if he had been playing with it and he said no it's in the garage and I said why is it in the garage? He said that no matter what whether he was touching it or not the thing would just go off and it drove everybody crazy if you just touched it it started screaming and his grandparents made him put it in the garage. So, I told him put it back in the box and when he comes this weekend I can send them back. whichever ones that he didn't like or didn't want bring all back I think I sent him five total different things I sent him a yodeling pickle and my ex-husband said that I was an evil B cuz my son walked around the whole day hitting the button which annoyed everybody in the house which means I did a good job. however this monkey is probably going to be going back because if he can't play with the monkey then there's no use in leaving the money laying in the garage He can read box it and send it back to me this weekend and I'll put it to work his real gift for his birthday.

Oooo ooo oooo oooo (monkey noise)
My Chihuahua loves this thing. This is his second one. I found the first one at Ace hardware. Well he mangled that one and I stepped on his voice box and crushed it. So the hunt was on! Thank God I saved the tag and leave it to Amazon! There it was! Little did I know he had friends. A pig, a chicken, a duck, a cow... I forget what else but trust me my dog will be thrashing each one of them soon. The really are quite fun to fling through the air. Clever little toy. (Not for those who are a bit edgy. The sound can grate on you after a while.)

You buy dog toys, but the dog doesn't care about them.
Once in a great while, you buy something for the dog that she carries around for weeks, months, years. The screaming monkey - for good or ill - is one such toy. We became acquainted with the screaming monkey when visiting a friend a couple years ago. My dog was rustling the stranger's toybox when she came upon the monkey. She pulled it out of the box, shook it, and it screamed. Dinner was briefly interrupted for the humans, as they tried to figure out exactly what or who was in distress. The dog discovered that shaking or throwing the monkey renews the screaming. Quickly the two dogs were sent outside with their inanimate companion. Needless to say, my dog was given permanent possession of the thing, if only to make sure the contact didn't awaken a new interest on the part of their dog. At three in the morning, I sometimes hear faint screaming in my back yard, as my dog romps about in the dark. The neighbors have been briefed. The letter carrier has commented. When I make my bed, I often find it hidden under a pillow or stuck with the blankets at the foot of the bed, although I didn't put it there. Eventually, the batteries ran down (which took over a year, and several thousand screams) and the fabric wore, and the body yielded to intensive chewing. I searched for a source for a replacement, and found it on Amazon, at a very good price. Minor quibbles: The cape and mask add nothing. Fortunately, they're easily chewed off and left in the back yard. The slingshot feature adds nothing. But so what? Even if we don't consider my dog's welfare, I can say the purchase price is repaid twenty times over by watching my four-year-old dog romping across the back yard, flinging her monkey into the air, and then pouncing on it as it screams. Sometimes she places it in a hole. Sometimes it gets caught in a bush. Sometimes it's under the couch. It's all good.
