If you are talking AM RECEPTION in metal building, only near window, or Windows. FM comes in away from Windows.

Does ths also have external outlet?

Radio has jack for headphones, and AUX input jack. It comes with a power cord to allow you to operate on AC POWER plugging into wall outlet. Cant have any D CELL BATTERIES in radio when plugged into outlet. AC power cord is also how you charge built in rechargeable battery in radio. Again, never have D cell batteries in radio when using AC power cord, it could rupture the batteries. Never charge internal battery(the hidden one) more than 8 hours, with radio off. Internal battery plays a long, long time on a single charge; listening to radio or playing a devise through AUX jack.

yes there is! nice little radio!!!

Is the built-in plug a two-prong or three-prong?

two prong--- great radio, keep out of the sun if you do not want the channel guide to melt other than that no complaints.
