I'm worried about mold getting inside the tubing. I have it hanging, but it's still wet.** A: I do not know if my method may work for you as house mold or aquarium algae may be different from household to household BUT here is what I do and the tubing of my set has remained free of both. First of all the tubing of my set is clear not black and I can see if such problems creep-up. If they were to appear I would throw them out and buy a replacement at a hardware store for much less.I keep my tubing free of mold or algae growth by flushing it for a 2-3 minutes with hot water out of the faucet, as hot as it comes out. Then I reverse the flow with both hot and cold water on for max suction and pick up the house from the suction spout to a level higher than the sink valve to ease the drainage. Keeping the house higher than the sink and valve I move along the tubing all the way to the other end connected to the sink. This drains most of the water. An extra benefit is that the hot water has softened the tubing and makes it easier to coil it back into the inside wall of a 5 gallon bucket I use to store it.I hope this helps. **Q: can this hook up to a outdoor water spicket? If not Aqueon might have adapters or you might find something at the hardware store but unlikely. Please any advice? Thanks!** A: Having 40 plus tanks for a rescue I use several types of these anywhere from 25 to 100 feet. Trick I learned is make sure to fill the hose like your going to fill the tank from the sink faucet.Turn of the water. Place the siphon/vacuum in the tank water. Open the valves to vaccum the gravel or tank qith the water on like normal. Thus will hwlpnstart the natural siphon easier and you won't lose suction this way. I have done this with low pressure sinks. Also the attachment for the sink isn't the best and you can buy one like the other brands that works better and just use this hose and vacuum. **Q: can the standard 3/16 tubing fit this? i would like to use the gravel vacuum i have now if possible** A: 3/16" tubing is the same size as airline tubing. Most gravel suction devices use at least 1/2" or greater. This unit will fit 5/8 naturally, or 1/2 to 3/4" with some slight modification.
