A Court of Thorns and Roses

To be honest i did not pick up this book last year thinking it was an overhyped book. But this year since "A court of mist and fury" had released, i thought of picking up this book. And OH MY LORD!! This book is one of the most fantastic book i have read this year till now. Sarah has written a fantastic book.A perfect plot,perfect world building to die for characters and and amazing story. This story is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Though this book is a retelling it has its own interesting story plots and its own twist and turns.This book just blew my mind. Feyre is such an amazing character. She is bold and a daredevil. At the same time she is caring toward her family and considerate of everyone's feelings. She is really intelligent and is aware of every situation. Loyal to her feelings she finds herself in really dangerous situations.Each and every character in this book has stole my heart. No character was deemed useless. Each character had their own background and a back story. And each of them were woven together beautifully. I must say it was just flawless to see so many characters intertwined together by the fate they had to face. I found myself loving all the characters. Even the bad boys had my heart. Tamlin is the love interest and oh my God!!! He is just perfect. Not only is he handsome but strong and fierce.He is kind and loving towards all his subjects. The chemistry between Feyre and Tamlin is to die for. It was like i was there in that place with them watching them have all those conversations. I loved to see the slow growth in their relationship. Even the growth of these characters from the first till the last page was really something to appreciate. And can i say i am also in love with Rhysand? He is intriguing but at the same time he seems to be lovable and naughty(which i like). I am really curious to see how his anti hero role progresses. The relationships in this book are really admirable. The relationship between Feyre and her family was really fascinating.The love she had for her elder sisters and for her father was something to really look forward to. She loved them no matter what and thought of them before her. She was always worried for their safety and had done what needed to be done for keeping them safe. I loved the romance between Tamlin and Feyre. It was bitter-sweet. I wanted to be in Fayre's position. I just wanted to be that character. There is a little bit of adult content but not too much. I felt it was necessary for the story. The world building in this story was remarkable. The world is divide into two. The faerie Realm and the human Realm and none is allowed to visit the other. The history of the faerie world in itself and its history with the humans was really rich and fascinating. It left me intrigued wanting to know more of it. The world and the magic was not at all hard to understand.It just flowed on beautifully. All in all i am in love with this book. It is probably the best book i have read till now. I am completely obsessed. Highly recommend this book to all the fantasy lovers out there. It is a must read. An intriguing tale of love,hate and magic. When I was done with the Fever series, I thought no book can ever fill in the void left by those books. And then, A Court Of Thorns And Roses happened to me. I deliberately kept away from fantasy novels all these years because I did not find the point in reading something that is unreal. In fact, I hardly ever read any fairy tales. Fairy tales never really interested me. A Court Of Thorns and Roses is the modified re-telling of the fairy tales, Beauty and The Beast and East of the Sun and West of the Moon. I have never read or watched Beauty and the Beast. All I knew about it was that a cursed beast falls in love with a human lady and her love for him breaks his curse and transforms him into a man. So, I started reading the book with this minor outline in my mind. And I what the book delivered was way beyond my expectations. I was left utterly astounded by the time I finished the book. With the fairy tale’s premise, Sarah J. Maas has created a phenomenal new world with magnificent characters. I loved this book and here are my reasons why. Points I Liked About A Court Of Thorns And Roses Fantastic Feyre: Feyre is the main character and narrator of the series. She may be poor but she never lets go of her dignity and pride. She is trapped in a completely new world with strange new people but she doesn’t lose herself to either fear of the unknown or glamour that appears before her. She is strong and self-reliant, probably because of the years she spent in utter poverty. What is more touching about her is that despite being ill-treated by her family, she only cares about them. Her concern for her family is slightly distressing especially when you know that they do not really care for her. Medium Paced: The story advances at a medium pace, which is fair enough considering its plot. Initially, the book felt a little slow but once Feyre is in Prythian things get faster and interesting. Beautiful Writing: Sarah J. Maas’s writing is just too good. Even though you know how the story will end, her writing keeps you on the edge of your seat. Her writing is descriptive yet concise. She has ensured that the readers have something to look forward to by the end of every chapter. Points I Did Not Like About A Court Of Thorns And Roses Terrible Tamlin: I am someone who falls in love with almost every good male lead I read about. It needs a lot of effort on the part of the hero to make me dislike him. So, when I say I do not like a hero it means that the character must certainly be overly clichéd or extremely boring. And Tamlin was both. Firstly, the name Tamlin itself sounds so childish. The writer has plucked elements from different fairy tales and merged them all into one novel and Tamlin’s character is inspired by a ballad, Scottish Borders. But the name Tamlin is too soft for the character described in the book. The name paints a feeble picture of a lanky man and does not evoke any sense of admiration for a High ranked Fae. Secondly, Tamlin falters heavily in the second half of the book. Feyre is badly hurt on several occasions in her attempts at saving Tamlin. But her efforts have no effect on him whatsoever. Though his behaviour is clearly justified in the book, as a reader it disappoints me. The central character ends up looking too weak, which robbed the sense of awe I generally feel for strong male characters. I do not expect perfect characters that always save the day with unbelievable actions. I just felt that Tamlin could have looked a little less weak. Now, that I have started reading the next book in the series, I understand the need for making Tamlin look the way he did. Final View: Sarah J. Maas’s fictional world of Prythian is highly engrossing. It was an interesting read and I found it next to impossible to keep the book down. You will like the book for the following reasons: you like the original version of Beauty and the Beast you like fantasy and romance fiction you like strong female leads in a story you are a Sarah J. Maas fan If none of these points apply to you then kindly do not cross this path. The fae realms might just claim your life.

I have to start by saying that this book consumed me wholly and I devoured it completely. While the first few chapters slowly grew on me, the rest owned my nights, days and every available unoccupied thought. There is something about fantasy fiction, that just expands my imagination to untraceable lengths I don't remember the last book that I finished in five days. A story about a nineteen year old girl Feyre, who kills a wolf unknowing of its consequences. A beast comes to capture her and takes her back to his lands to never return to her family. Is the beast really all beast? Is this magical land really all that which meets the eye? Are the legends she heard as a child, just legends? The descriptions of this magical world was simply spell binding. I drank each and every scene literally out of the palm of the author's hand. The characters Feyre, Tamlin, Lucien, Rhys made me laugh, weep and anger at every scene. The dialogues, emotions all wrapped up so full bodied. To the extent that each conversation I closed the page on, kept playing in my head until I opened the book again. The plot moves efficiently and effortlessly through till the climax scene and beyond. The main themes love, friendship, loyalty, family, freedom, righteousness, sacrifice are just a few to be named. This is a masterfully crafted piece of work, I can't wait to read the other four parts. For all those who love fantasy romance, please don't miss out on this one.

Really good quality, good packaging and nice paper quality........ a must read book and an amazing fantasy

A Court of thorns and roses by Sarah.J.Maas is a thrilling young adult fantasy . This book is so much more than a retelling of beauty and the beast, there are so many fairy lengends woven beautifully throughout the book. Set in a world were humans were onces slave to fairies untill they rose up against it. The Fairies kept their magical land of Prythian,casting out the humans. There has been a treaty protecting the peace, but it’s beginning to fray. Feyre and her family live close to the borders, and it’s no longer safe to be out late. Feyre is bound by the promise she made her mother that she will lookout for her family. But feyre is taken away when she kills a magical being she has to pay the price she can chose to die or spend the rest of her life in Prythia she discovers her captor is not an animal but a lethal immortal fairy. feyre's feeling for her captor changes from hostile to love but something dangerous is lurking around the corner which threatens the doom of both human and the fae kind. I have one word for this FANTASTIC!!!!! it is a thrilling story the author has created these wonderfull characters with so many layers. the world of prythian was so engaging it just draws you in. Our heroine Feyre is fierce she risks her life for her family's survival .she is a strong capable young woman. Tamlin is PERFECTION he is incrediblely complex and emotional i loved seeing tamlin and feyre's relationship develop. the plot of just perfect not a single chapter did dull my interest. The ending left we wanting more. Please give it one a try you will fall in love with the book

It's a good book but they actually story starts only from chapter 30 , the first of the book is a little slow .

Sarah knows how to write a fantasy that sizzles with tension and a dazzling world with magic and strong female lead. Feyre is strong , resilient and wont think twice to do anything to care for her sisters.

I can't believe I didn't read A Court of Thorns and Rosesbefore now, ten years after it first released! Better late than never the saying says. I'm in agreement with its high popularity as I was instantly captivated by Feyre's journey! The intrigue started slow, but it was the perfect pace to get acquainted to this fantastical world. I liked discovering the different varieties of fearies and creatures living in Prythian, but also knowing more about this magical land. The High Fae and their powers with the multiple Courts had me intrigued. It was truly a very immersive experience reading this novel. I loved the heroine, Feyre. This human, so brave and determined in a world full of enemies. The evolution of her relationship with Tamlin and Lucien, her Spring Court protectors, was amazing to witness. They shared an amalgam of feelings together going from hate to humor to respect to friendship. All these protagonists were certainly multi-faceted and alluring. The most intriguing one of all to me: Rhysand from the Night Court. I appreciated his morally gray persona, not knowing his true motives, but still seeing a kind of protectiveness toward Feyre despite his actions. The true intrigue took off at the midway mark and the last quarter of this story was simply fabulous and addicting. I was breathless from all the action, deception and revelations. And the discovery of the real villain was so interesting. In retrospective, ACOTAR was seriously such a brilliant book in my opinion! I'm now so excited to dive into the second novel, A Court of Mist and Fury! There's still so much unresolved things that I need answers to.
