Canson Montval Watercolor Paper Pad, 9x12 in

I don't use Canson 140# watercolor paper as my regular surface; Prefer 300# Fabriano. But it makes a very nice, inexpensive WC sketchbook. Good for experimenting on or Plein aire. Tip: tape around the three sides of the pad, including the lower sheets, it will help keep the paper from buckling and give you clean borders around your painting. I like Scotch masking tape for delicate surfaces; it keeps paint from leaking underneath and with care, can be removed without damaging the surface of the paper.

Worked well

I used this for my Art Appreciation class in college which required a project experimenting with water colors. The paper is thick and absorbent, far superior to regular paper. My brush strokes were much more defined and didn't leak or smear and run away on the paper. Also came in handy for my little 2 year old who wanted to paint next to me, she had a great time with minimal mess, on the paper, the water and colors were a different story.

For low budget paper this was very good. It takes, pencil, ink, marker etc really well. Also it was thick enough to not bleed through to the other side. The only problem I had was that it warped when I used it with watercolors. Which was to be expected while still in the book form with no way to control that. If you take the paper out and tape it to a proper work surface it will be fine. I will definitely buy this again.

This was a great addition to my art room. The paper is thick, and it is just what I needed to begin my new projects. This is great for the artist in your life. They will love it for how well it functions!!

I'm a beginning watercolor painter and this paper is the most durable and best quality I've found for my practice. Some papers feel strange or buckle and this doesn't. Paper is expensive and I don't feel guilty using this up like I would with Arches or a pricier paper. If you're on the fence, get it!

Other watercolor books ive tried have a really poor paper weight or absorbency. Im able to paint directly on this pad without having to tape down or have a lot of curling. Ive even done multiple layers of watercolor with minimal degradation of the paper. Happy with this as a travel watercolor book.

I like this as the paper quality is strong and while more suitable for less washes and more detailed work I like the fact that you can also use it as a journal as it is spiral bound. Please CANSON - bring out a rough watercolour paper one.

Very very slightly buckled if too much water on it... I do a lot of wet on wet painting. very good quality with reasonable price. Will def come back

No es un bloc de papel barato sino todo lo contrario: es un papel costoso debido a la gran calidad del mismo. Por tal motivo considero que el empaque debe ser elegido con más cuidado. Por lo menos que estuviera emplayado y en un empaque más ceñido ya que llegó en una caja mucho más grande que el producto y por ello hubiera podido sufrir daños en las esquinas. No fue mi caso. A mí me llegaron en buen estado, con las esquinas intactas. Creo que tuve suerte. Lo mínimo sería que estuvieran forrados con algún plástico o celofán para protegerlo contra el polvo y la humedad. En general el producto es muy bueno. Pensé que el grano de la textura sería un poco más fino sin embargo no es tan grueso como algunos otros papeles para acuarela. El producto es muy recomendable.

I can see that I am going to have to buy another pad of this Canson Artist Series Montval Watercolor Paper very soon. I love it for all my papercrafting and mixed media pages - Great with my Gel Press as well!

Excellent for painting flowers and other detailed watercolor paintings!
