Finally! There is A Mental Toughness Book For Young Athletes! Hey Parents, Troy Horne here. Your mental toughness guide! If you are reading this you probably have a young athlete who struggles with in-game confidence and maybe even sports performance anxiety. I am here to help parents understand how to help your young athlete navigate this mental toughness journey. I know where you are and I know how to help you help your young athlete find their mental toughness. I have purchased a lot of books about mental toughness in sports. To be honest, most of the books that we read were not a good fit for young athletes because they were either written for adults or not written for youth athletes in COMPETITIVE sports . There is a difference. Parents! Since there wasn't anything out there for elite athletes I did what every youth sports parent does when they want to help their kid. I took the long journey of ups and downs. I struggled to help my young athlete find his mental toughness. IT WAS ROUGH! However, luckily along the way we found the winning formula thanks to being able to talk with sports icons personally. We launched a podcast together and on it we interviewed sports mental toughness giants like Chauncey Billups , Tywanna Smith , Keiko Yoshimine , Earl Boykins , Jason Richardson and Kobe Bryant! I studied what they did and said based on our interviews and I came up with a mental toughness plan that worked! I followed their journey and their advice. I wrote down what worked for my young athlete and I put it in this book so that you would be able to skip a lot of the struggle and failure part. No need for everyone to struggle right? In this book I am going to share with you what I learned from talking to NBA Athletes, NFL Athletes, EuroLeague Athletes, College Coaches, and College Athletes as well. Does your child perform better in practice than they do when the game or when the "Lights Come On"? Do they seem like they are losing their love for the game? Do you want to help them? If you answered yes to these questions then you are in the right place. This book is the answer that you have been looking for! I can say this with confidence because I have used everything that I am going to share with you in this book with my son and it has worked. What a blessing to get the keys to mental toughness straight from greats! I look forward to sharing what we learned with you! This stuff is a game-changer and it's made specifically for young athletes! Order now to improve your young athlete's mental toughness level for good! Review: Trust in yourself first then your child. - This was and is a game changer for me and my boys. The book is such a great tool to help you guide and incorage your child. I signed up for the email chain which I find myself totally in love with and I can't wait to get it every week. Troy is the man. We truly appreciate 🙏 his input. I am a little league coach and it has really made a huge difference in the way I coach. I have referred this book to all my players and their parents some of which have purchased it. We all find ourselves talking about the twice a week emails which is awesome. It has helped us makes sure we surround ourselves with like minded people. Keep up the great work Troy. Review: A college course in motivating the student athlete - I bought all three book and they are a college course on how to motivate a child athlete. The first book is meant to be read by the kid so of course I read it first. It was worthwhile because as the author points out most adults havnt mastered mental toughness. Then it goes into the eight areas a student athlete needs to focus on to improve performance. The second book is aimed at parents and goes a little more in dept as to why you need to help your child with the eight areas of mental toughness. Then there’s access to online content. At 100 and 120 pages, it’s concise well thought out and well written with entertaining. Bravo!

Best $5 spent: Lesson on parenting/coaching child
I really enjoyed this book - an easy read filled with gentle nudges for parent and child. Mistakes lead to success - for both parent and child. Don't fear, just optimize bit by bit. What I learned: - Set goals together with child. Child learns by seeing. Parent must make goals transparent and child will follow. I successfully created a goal list with my 7 year old yesterday in a one hour car ride. She gave me feedback and created my goals too, which were spot on. - Visualize success. Mental visualization is almost as important as physical practice. Maybe that's why dreams are so important. - Talk about the negatives with the child, but celebrate the wins massively - much more than talking about negatives, embrace the positives and your child 1000x. - Subconscious doesn't filter between positive or negative connotations so when you set goals or talk to your child, rather than say "Do not" be specific about what to do. Do it! - Write out your goals every day, especially short term goals for that day in the morning. - Practice slow. Best way to solidify your shot. Just because you are practicing slow doesn't mean you will hit or shoot slow. It will give you clarity on your form and muscle memory will kick in. - Keep it small. Like futsal to soccer, those who play and practice on a smaller space inevitably thrive in a larger field. I will practice with a smaller tennis racket and a smaller ball or hackey sack with my daughter. - Train ghetto - if you're practicing in the best kit out facility, you may not have the drive to do better. If you're in a third rate facility, you may want to do your best and train to get somewhere better. Even if you have access and enjoy your high end club, practice in a gritty location once in a while. FYI, all the above was straight from memory. Memory retention after reading this book was better than expected. Highly recommended.

Mental Toughness is a Game Changer
Mental Toughness is a game changer for young athletes, students, and anyone in life. This book strengthens the mind and sharpens your ability. I originally bought it for my son after seeing reviews and testimonies online, knowing it was something we needed. As I read, I unknowingly began applying the concepts in my classroom and with my athletes. Later, I noticed a drastic change in effort, confidence, determination, and mindset. When I reflected on what had changed, I realized it started with the lessons from this book. That’s when I knew my students needed it too, and even better, their parents. I ordered the parent guide along with additional copies for my athletes because these principles go far beyond sports. The stronger the student, the better the athlete. Every successful athlete’s story seems to connect with the mindset taught in this book. I even challenged my students to find a successful athlete whose story did not match these principles, and they couldn’t. This book is a playbook for sports, life, discipline, and success. It helps make people stronger, sharper, more confident, and fearless when facing challenges. It deserves all the stars.

A must have parent companion!
Purchasing this parent guide made walking our kids through the exercises easier and even gave us things to consider in our own lives. I’d highly recommend for parents who are wanting to be intentional in supporting their kid’s sports journey and beyond. The exercises and tips are gold!

Ok, but not for us
This does have some quality to it, but for a kid that is not too big in the world of professional sports it misses the mark for him. The author uses a lot of famous names to compare to and promote, but if your child doesn’t know a lot of them they may lose interest.

Great for young athletes
This book has also helped me understand what my child is thinking or just not understanding in regards to mental toughness. When your watching practice and the kids give up. This is the book for you. I know they need to dig deeper and give it their all but this book lays it out in terms they understanding. Get the parents guide to mental toughness as well.

Stop trying to sell me the book!
I feel like every three paragraphs you’re trying to sell me on the idea and giving me reasons what I should read this book,,, but I’m already reading it! So it would be much better to get to the point (event if it’s a “warm up” idea). Also, quite disappointed with all the typos and grammar errors. Still, interesting topic.

Great practical advice
The book is quite focused on basketball career but if you abstract your mind from this sports, you find it good advice for any sports athlete. I bought a version for my 9 year old son as well. We started putting things into practice and I even bought next book, volume 2 Great book after all, I recommend both kids version and parents guide.
