I bought this product because I was looking for something that would mount my action cam using the same ingenious "sticky suction cup" solution that iOttie phone mounts have. And indeed this does just that. It will stick to just about any surface, as long as it is flat (i.e. not curved), non-porous, clean, and dry. It won't stick to very rough surfaces, e.g. unfinished wood, masonry, etc. but it does stick to things like drywall and varnished wood, as long as you clean it with isopropyl alcohol first. The rubber ball joints on this are interchangeable with RAM size B (1 inch diameter) ball joints. Now onto some of the disadvantages. (1) It leaves a very slight amount of residue on most surfaces, but this can be easily cleaned off with whatever household cleaning supplies you have. (2) The instruction manual warns you: "The sticky suction cup should not be used on some types of dashboards. It may leave a permanent indentation on dashboard surfaces made of soft vinyl, leather, or similar materials. To prevent permanent indentation marks, use the included adhesive mounting disk when mounting on soft dashboard surfaces." (3) The outer edge of the suction cup has chunks taken off of it where there they were probably deburring it during the manufacturing process. This won't affect the performance of the suction cup, but it looks unsightly, and it shows that their cosmetic quality control is somewhat lacking. That being said, I still give it 5 stars because I have yet to find anything else like this: A sticky suction cup mount with a rubber ball bearing joint that is interchangeable with RAM mounts. Also, I've had a lot of cosmetic quality control issues with RAM mounts too, even though they are considered the "gold standard" of mounting solutions, so Arkon isn't alone on that issue.
