No tripod, all hand shots. It is going to add some bulk, but if you have good methods of holding telephoto lenses you know how to do it. I just got this today, and the quality is really nice for the 80 or so bucks spent. This resolves nicely on my D750 though it shows DX, and crops the image. It didn't state DX lens in the order details or description, but I assumed it would be. Full frame tele lenses just don't come with $80-100 price tags. Build quality is great too... again for the price. Focus ring is tight, and I like that. Most kit lenses DX lenses are on the loose focus ring side of things. Too easy to move. The lens cap is the weakest point. Spring was stuck. I can get another if needed. Not a big deal. This basically makes your camera look like a small telescope. The included T ring for the lens is nicely made. No issues, all metal and has 3 small allen screws for extra security to the lens mount. Comes with lens caps, faux leather case. Some chromatic aberration is to be expected, but overall if your subject is center, it's not bad. The flag picture above with the cloud background was shot at the full 800mm. The problem I had in my camera was not being able to set the Aperture. It fixed at F22. Auto ISO did well enough for most shots. I bought this to photo rocket launches as well. Great lens, awesome price!!! Not good in low light though, so don't expect much there. Should work better on a tripod for moon, or even bright planets. Going to try getting Jupiter and it's bigger moons. ## Features - Manual Focus Design: The f/8.3 aperture telephoto zoom lens incorporates a manual focus design tailored for professional photographers. It enables precise adjustment of parameters such as shutter speed, ISO, and aperture, facilitating the achievement of desired shooting effects and the enhancement of photography skills. - Super Telephoto Zoom Lens: The 420-800mm f/8.3-16 full-frame zoom lens is designed specifically for professional photographers. It includes an adapter ring at no additional cost. Features include precision manual focus with a large focus ring design and an internal focus mechanism, UMC technology to minimize aberrations and flare, resulting in sharp images with exceptional background bokeh. The aperture automatically adjusts based on focal length (f/8.3 at 420mm, f/16 at 800mm), and it is compatible with 62mm filters and F mounts. - Compatibility with Nikon DSLR Cameras: The Lightdow 420-800mm f/8.3 telephoto lens is fully compatible with a range of Nikon F mount DSLR cameras, including models such as D850, D810, D800, D610, D750, D500, and various others listed (D7200, D7500, D7100, D5600, D5300, D600, D3500, D3400, D3300, D5200, D5100, D7000, D700). This lens offers versatility for a wide array of shooting scenarios, from portraits and landscapes to street photography and macro photography. - Operating Instructions and Features: The 420-800mm fully manual focus lens lacks electronic contacts. Therefore, after installing the lens, users should set the camera mode to Manual (M). The advantages of fully manual focus include precise focus control, creative shooting opportunities, robust adaptability, durability, and reliability, making it a preferred tool for photographers in specific shooting environments. - Capture Capabilities: The 420-800mm manual telephoto lens excels at capturing detailed images of distant subjects, effectively bringing remote objects closer. It is ideal for photographing the moon, wildlife, birds, buildings, airplanes, landscapes, and more. The aperture range is F8.3-16, and it automatically adjusts with the focal length. Consequently, the camera cannot set the aperture value of the manual lens, resulting in the display of F00/F-- on the camera. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B01C2GB2MY | | Best Sellers Rank | #202,255 in Electronics ( See Top 100 in Electronics ) #1,368 in SLR Camera Lenses | | Brand | lightdow | | Built-In Media | lens body, lens bag, lens front & back cover | | Camera Lens | 800 millimetres | | Camera lens description | 800 millimetres | | Color | Black | | Compatible Camera Models | Fujifilm FinePix IS Pro, Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro, Fujifilm Finepix S5 Pro, Nikon D1, Nikon D100, Nikon D200, Nikon D2Hs, Nikon D2X, Nikon D2Xs, Nikon D3, Nikon D300, Nikon D3000, Nikon D300S, Nikon D3100, Nikon D3200, Nikon D3300, Nikon D3400, Nikon D3500, Nikon D3S, Nikon D3X, Nikon D4, Nikon D40, Nikon D40X, Nikon D4S, Nikon D5, Nikon D50, Nikon D500, Nikon D5000, Nikon D5100, Nikon D5200, Nikon… | | Compatible Camera Mount | Nikon F | | Compatible Devices | Nikon D3100 D3200 D3300 D3400 D5100 D5200 D5300 D5500 D5600 D7000 D7100 D7200 D7500, Nikon D50 D60 D90 Df D3 D3X, Nikon D850 D810 D800 D750 D700 D610 D300 | | Compatible mountings | Nikon F | | Customer Reviews | 3.6 out of 5 stars 495 Reviews | | Exposure Control Type | Manual | | Focal Length Description | 420-800mm | | Focal length description | 420-800mm | | Focus Type | Manual Focus | | Global Trade Identification Number | 06170767006028 | | Image stabilization | Digital | | Item Weight | 1.65 Pounds | | Lens | Telephoto | | Lens Coating Description | HD Coating | | Lens Design | Zoom | | Lens Fixed Focal Length | 800 Millimeters | | Lens Mount | Nikon F | | Lens type | Telephoto | | Manufacturer | lightdow | | Manufacturer Part Number | KD-420800-T-N | | Maximum Aperture | 8.3 f | | Maximum Focal Length | 800 Millimeters | | Maximum focal length | 800 Millimeters | | Media Type | ProductImage | | Minimum Aperture | 16 f | | Minimum Focal Length | 420 Millimeters | | Model Name | Lightdow 420-800mm F/8.3 | | Model Number | KD-420800-T-N | | Number of Diaphragm Blades | 4 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Photo Filter Size | 67 Millimeters | | Real Angle Of View | 5 Degrees | | Screen Size | 27 Centimeters | | Unit Count | 1.0 Count | | Water Resistance Level | Not Water Resistant | | Zoom Ratio | 1.90 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** lightdow - **Camera lens description:** 800 millimetres - **Compatible mountings:** Nikon F - **Focal length description:** 420-800mm - **Lens type:** Telephoto ## Images ![420-800mm F/8.3 Telephoto Lens - Manual Zoom Lenses for Nikon F Mount DSLR Cameras D850 D810 D800 D610 D750 D500 D7200 D7500 D7100 D5600 D5300 D600 D3500 D3400 D3300 D3200 D5200 D5100 D5000 D7000 D700 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61Nyq0-fEEL.jpg) ![420-800mm F/8.3 Telephoto Lens - Manual Zoom Lenses for Nikon F Mount DSLR Cameras D850 D810 D800 D610 D750 D500 D7200 D7500 D7100 D5600 D5300 D600 D3500 D3400 D3300 D3200 D5200 D5100 D5000 D7000 D700 - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51I1gEpR8OL.jpg) ![420-800mm F/8.3 Telephoto Lens - Manual Zoom Lenses for Nikon F Mount DSLR Cameras D850 D810 D800 D610 D750 D500 D7200 D7500 D7100 D5600 D5300 D600 D3500 D3400 D3300 D3200 D5200 D5100 D5000 D7000 D700 - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61pphOqYvTL.jpg) ![420-800mm F/8.3 Telephoto Lens - Manual Zoom Lenses for Nikon F Mount DSLR Cameras D850 D810 D800 D610 D750 D500 D7200 D7500 D7100 D5600 D5300 D600 D3500 D3400 D3300 D3200 D5200 D5100 D5000 D7000 D700 - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61cEYK0b5IL.jpg) ![420-800mm F/8.3 Telephoto Lens - Manual Zoom Lenses for Nikon F Mount DSLR Cameras D850 D810 D800 D610 D750 D500 D7200 D7500 D7100 D5600 D5300 D600 D3500 D3400 D3300 D3200 D5200 D5100 D5000 D7000 D700 - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71ESYRFtlmL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: After attaching the lens, why it show "Lens not attached"?** A: Because our lenses are manual focus lenses with no electronic contacts, there may show an error page of “Lens not attached"(Some Nikon models may not show error), please DO switch to “M" mode to use. (The error page will disappear in M mode.) **Q: Why does my picture seem to be blurry, out of focus?** A: Fine tune the front focusing ring to make your target in focus. **Q: How to do if the image turns out dark?** A: Increase the ISO and decrease the shutter speed. If the image turns out too bright, reverse the above steps. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ amazing *by K***G on 7 April 2026* amazing! the build quality and image quality absolutely are worth the price, it doesn’t fully cover the entire fullframe though (slight black corners), but honestly, what do you expect at this price? it's even built in metal. worth every penny ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really nice lens for the money *by P***T on 26 July 2019* As pics show, these all shot at full 800mm.
