the package says it's grain free but then it says it has peas and lentils in it.  Peas and lentils are grains. How is it legal to lie on the label ?

Hello! Please know that grains are seeds derived from grasses called cereals, such as wheat, barley, rye, corn, millet, oats, sorghum, spelt, and rice. Legumes are any plant that grows in a pod, such as peas and lentils. While legumes may be called grains in everyday conversation, however, they are not technically grains. Are the kibbles small enough for a tiny kitten ?

I would say, Yes. I just measured them, and each kibble is just under 1/4 inch around, and smaller than that from top to bottom. If you still had concerns for your tiny kitten, you could probably rinse the kibbles with a bit a water that you then drain off, just to soften them.  (My opinion.) You could even ask a vet what they recommend. We fed these to our new kitten from the start, when we got her at 9 weeks old.  Our much older cat loves them too.

Hello! Cats are obligate carnivores and have no real need for carbohydrates in their diet, however, some level of carbohydrates is required to form a dry kibble - otherwise, it would fall apart. So, instead of using high-glycemic carbohydrates with little nutritional value like wheat, corn, soy, tapioca, or white potato, we use only low-glycemic, whole-food carbohydrate sources like peas, lentils, and sweet potatoes.
