"Crow Fancy" came out of my admiration for Crow's attitude and craftiness. Working in a rustic-inspired style makes an immediate connection for me, and I hope for the viewer as well. It seems only natural to portray her with a little bling. The body was built up by layering black and purple fabric scraps fastened down with beads, sequins, and embroidery in a variety of stitches and thread weights, including metallic floss. The background is tea-dyed ticking anchored by silver wax rubbed buttons and an embossed foil flourish of my own design. "Crow Fancy" is an 8" x 10" textile collage mounted in a ready to hang white-painted Oklahoma barnwood frame (11" x 13"). No glass necessary or desired.
