GREAT STUFF
Just got this stuff today. Mixed A teaspoon with about 8 ounces of orange juice in my ninja with some ice cubes and there’s no bad taste. I have another brand and it is so strong it makes you want to throw up. Taste like you’re drinking sardines. This Hawaiian spirulina Is extremely mild flavored. I can’t wait to see how it makes me feel after taking it a week. I will get back and let you know. Thought I would add my first experience taking Spirulina. It was a different brand. I didn’t know as much as I should have taking it the first time. I had my gallbladder out a few years back and continued to have pains on my right side where my gallbladder had been. I didn’t buy the Spirulina for any particular reason other than I had heard it is extremely good for you. I started with a heaping teaspoon a day to start. In about 5 days I started to feel extremely ill. That’s when I started reading more about it and read it is a detoxifier. No doubt in my mind that is what was happening. I did not throw up but I had extreme cramping and passed stuff in the toilet all day. Needless to say I was a little worried. By late that evening I started to feel much better. I did not take anymore for quite some time. The great thing is I quit having all of those horrible pains in my right side where my gallbladder used to be. It has been wonderful. I ended up throwing that particular product away as I felt it was probably not fresh. I bought another brand I took a few times but it tastes so gross and did nothing for my energy levels. I had since read that Hawaiian is the best product on the market. Hawaiian Pacifica to be exact but that is a little too pricey for me so I went with the Hawaiian. Almost tasteless and felt my energy sky rocket in just 3 servings. Can’t wait to see how i feel in a week. Hopefully there will be no bad reactions.

Is it worth it?
well this is the second bottle I ordered for this product, for the moment I'm trying to turn into vegetarianism but boy it's a hard task to do. for the moment I'm eating healthy and exercising regularly which is one of the tips to be healthy. I no longer eat red meat and junk food is out of the question. I do eat white meat but in low portions (no pork). when I heard about spirulina I realized I had to try it, but then after finishing my first bottle I got a little curious to dig a little more about this supplement and this is what I found. it's been say that spirulina contains a high content of protein, but the dose suggested by the manufacturer of spirulina pacifica contains only two grams of protein per serving. regularly a person who weights 150 pounds would need to consume approximately 55 grams of protein daily, to get that amount of protein we would need to take at least 25 teaspoons of spirulina pacifica every day, does it makes sense to take such quantity? before I started using spirulina pacifica I was taking a protein isolate formula, 60 dlls. per bottle but it was the best quality that you cuuld find, you would get 24 grams per serving with that formula. another thing that caught my attention was the vitamin content, the amount of vitamins that is specified in the bottle is much less than the amount of vitamins found in a bottle of multivitamins, One a Day in this case. example: (Spirulina Pacifica) Vitamin B12 = 9mcg = 150% (One a day) Vitamin B12-18mcg = 300% some other vitamins are not even half that of the ones in One a Day. so the question here is, is buying this spirulina supplement really worth it when the quantity of protein is less than minimal and the vitamins are less than those of a regular multivitamins supplement and that are not even complete? we all know that this thing tastes horrible so lets take that into consideration too. am I missing something here? is there anything some one here knows that I don't and would want to share it? please do because this is so damn confusing, thank you! PS. I rated the product with 4 stars because I know that in a way it is a healthy choice but I am not really sure whether it's worth the hassle or not!

works for me; maybe produced with good water
I've been taking this product for one and a half years. i take from 1 - 2 tablespoons per day pretty much everyday. (i gradually built up to this level.) sometimes i'll just feel like not taking it for a day up to a week here and there, but other than that i'm always taking it. i mix it with a fiber and protein powder with a little extra virgin olive oil along with a fruit or two on the side for breakfast and i'm good to go. taste doesn't bother me - it's actually very mild. i do add a little natural sweetener though. this product has been very consistent for me and i go through a lot of it. One reason i still take this product after the 'radiation incident' in the Pacific Ocean is that i believe it's grown in quality water that probably might not contain any of that radiation. I never researched this extensively or contacted the company, but the best i can do here is quote from a book describing this exact product published in 2009 called "Spirulina Nature's Superfood". Quote: "Clean, pure deep ocean water is pumped from 2000 feet (approximately 600 meters) below the surface of the ocean and added to Hawaiian Spirulina. This deep ocean water is rich in trace minerals and elements. Scientists estimate that this deep ocean water hasn't been to the surface for over 2000 years - this is indeed very special water." (i believe this water originates from the Antarctic and travels upward over this 2000 year period passing Hawaii). Another quote from the same book: "And Cyanotech uses water from two different sources - deep sea water from 600 meters below the ocean's surface and municipal drinking water from the Hawaiian aquifer. Cyanotech pays for its water while (to our knowledge) every other Spirulina farm in the world uses river or irrigation water to grow their Spirulina. You can't help but have a purer product when you start with purer water." -like i said, works for me. i'm not associated with the company in any way, but may be partial to it because i live in Hawaii. one important note about this product: this stuff contains a lot of phycocyanin (360mg per 3 grams or teaspoon or six 500mg tablets) which sets it apart from other green superfoods. phycocyanin is the blue pigment found only in blue-green algae like Spirulina that supposedly protects the liver and kidneys during detoxification and is a potent free radical scavenger, etc., etc.

The best of the best.
Great quality. 4-star because the product is being sold in a plastic bottle. Shame on you Nutrex!
