I just chalk painted a desk for my daughter and I want to seal it. Will this turn the white chalk paint yellow?

When painting wood white with chalk paint, especially on bare wood or after sanding down original top coat, primer needs to be applied first. The natural tannins in the wood will come through causing the yellow color to come through once the paint is sealed with a top coat.

Will this turn chalk painted furniture yellow? What do you use to apply it? I would like as flawless look.

It did not make my white chalk painted furniture turn yellow. I used a small sponge type roller and rolled on 2 coats. Turned out really well. If you look at my review and pictures, you'll see more info.

Has anyone used this over imitation silver leaf?

I have done a table with aluminum leaf, and used polyurethane (satin) to seal it. It worked well, and I have had no complaints after 1+years.

Yes, you can definitely out four or five or more coats in your table with this with no sanding whatsoever. Do not try to reapply another layer without having had the previous layer dry. Gives great protection and you can do this in the house...no nasty smell as it is water based. Can even use iver chalk paint to seal it instead of wax.

Sheen is perfect

I was looking for a water based varnish. This is expensive, big in size but just the perfect varnish. I use it for coating canvas, mdf and even terracotta projects. It has the right shine - not matte not too much gloss. Just wished they offered a smaller container too.
