Should I be concerned about tampering or whether this is an original?** A: There’s a lot of outdated info here. I believe many years ago, Brita used to seal these filters but not any more. To verify, I went to a Home Depot and checked many boxes and none had plastic seals around the packaging or on the filters. It’s a very poor decision of Brita to not have any plastic seals. You have no idea if the item you’re buying has been previously used or not. **Q: Does this work well with hard water?** A: I do think it works all right with hard water however using soft water makes the filters last longer. I have also noticed that when making coffee there are chunks of lime scale that fall out of the water dispenser so the machines require cleaning more frequently.
