The box was NOT sealed, and the filters were NOT sealed in plastic. Should I be concerned about tampering or whether this is an original?

There’s a lot of outdated info here. I believe many years ago, Brita used to seal these filters but not any more. To verify, I went to a Home Depot and checked many boxes and none had plastic seals around the packaging or on the filters. It’s a very poor decision of Brita to not have any plastic seals. You have no idea if the item you’re buying has been previously used or not.

Does this work well with hard water?

I do think it works all right with hard water however using soft water makes the filters last longer. I have also noticed that when making coffee there are chunks of lime scale that fall out of the water dispenser so the machines require cleaning more frequently. I hope this was the answer you were wanting to see. Thank you for asking questions because that makes you an informed consumer.

I'm finding my Brita filters filling up with water. What can I do to stop it from happening?

It should fit most faucets. You may need to try different washer than the ones provided to get a tighter fit.
