I Love Field Roast
Excellent cookbook for a new Vegetarian. I love Field Roast products and now I can make them at home. The beginning gives recipes for the basic grain meats, the rest of the book has lots of recipes for what to do with them.

very helpful book
I have not made any recipes yet, they are rather complicated, but they do look very good. I have carefully read through many of the recipes and they do seem very promising and I am going to try some for special occasions

Interesting, frustrating…
From an educational perspective this is an interesting book, you learn a lot about different techniques and ingredients for vegan cooking. The recipes themselves? So frustrating. I want to bake a main meal… Start off with a trip to the store cos you won’t have most of these ingredients. I don’t even know what the alternate is if you can’t find “vegan base”… which is in almost every recipe, but I’ve never heard of it, and I’ve been vegan over 10 years. I have to make a stock or a stuffing first because they’re quite specific. Then I have to make 1 of 2/3 “bases” that everything starts from. Then I have to make the roast or the sausage. And now I’m finally making my meal! It’s annoying because every recipe requires you to make something first, or to buy an off the shelf Field Roast sausage or roast… which is exactly what I was trying to avoid when I bought the book. Making a meal is going to take a whole day.

Good cookbook for vegans and meat eaters alike
Good cookbook for vegans and meat eaters alike. I do have to say that the recipes require a lot of preparation and some ingredients may be a bit tricky to find but I cook a lot and so I know how to substitute ingredients. If you want to try making seitan for the first time then maybe this book shouldn't be the first one.
