Does anyone know if the mirror is detachable?

Yes. All the hanging toys which come with are detachable. It is a great play mat. My daughter loved it since she was 2 months till she outgrown. Great for tummy time, too.

Is it still having "car" issues? Want to make sure this has been fixed before ordering then having to return.

I have never had car issues. The trick is to insert the car until it almost clicks and fits perfectly, that took a couple of tries.
