A few months after starting secondary school, her behaviour & attitude began to change horribly & things at home became a constant battle with her. I give her lots of 1 on 1 time, she’s very active, I just couldn’t get why she was pretty much turning her family into enemies. I tried talking to her, but she seemed to have developed this ‘stuff you’ switch with would flick on at the first sign of me instigating a chat. So I ended up buying this book & honestly it’s working wonders. She has really taken to it. She reads for 20 minutes each day, but usually reluctantly. Since having this book, she’s been setting her 20 min timer of her own accord & cracking on with reading. The content is so relatable, I can literally see that she feels lighter afterwards. It’s well written & full of info, but engaging with the way it’s set out, kind of in bite size chunks. It has the odd quiz, offers tips & advice on all things relevant to this age group. I asked my daughter if she would recommend it to other people her age. She said definitely yes but only more confident readers as it does have quite a few big/unfamiliar words which she pieces together the meaning of.
