will it fit size 7 5/8?

I wear a similar size and found it to be uncomfortably tight.

Is it a sturdy or a flimsy hat?

It’s a fairly sturdy hat, but has to be treated well as it can be dented. Ours arrived with an entire side pushed in because something was obviously placed on it during transport or storage - but we were able to pop it out just fine and have it still look good. When worn it stands like a top hat.

To make smaller, what do you think would stay glued to inside trim?

Amazon sells hat foam tape just for that purpose. Foam top, sticky bottom. Strips can be cut to size. Great stuff!

How did the hat ship? I don’t want it to show up crushed or with creases.
