How does the powder version compare to the aerosol, in terms of performance, smell?

Like it better. It's dry vs. wet and there's no smell. You can put it exactly where you need it.

Is this product comparable to Bumble and Bumble's pret-a-powder?

This product gives you much more lift and texture than the pret-a-powder. I bought a trial size at Sephora because my stylist was out of the Powder Play and was very disappointed. The Big Sexy Hair Powder Play is the best!

Does give a lot of volume? Also how does it smell?

It gives a ton of volume!! And it has a little bit of a smell when you first sprinkle it on, but i havent noticed any smell after that.

For years i’ve used the sea salt spray on my thin hair. does this work better? do i have to use a blow dryer to use this? i’m kinda low maintenance.

I have very thin and fine hair and find myself having to rub my fingers throughout to maintain the lift during the day. But it works really well. it is powder-based so you just sprinkle it on your hair and then rub it together and it creates almost like a wax so I've never had to use a blow dryer
