It folds up or rolls up. to just fit traveling bag, it should fit depending how big the luggage is..

The green material is about 3/16ths of an inch. It is adhered to a rubber backing.

How well does this work on carpet?

Is your question regarding laying it over carpet to use it? If so, it works great! My 88 year old dad has it permanently "parked" in the carpeted hall of his home to practice his putting.
