In other words what it the distance between two outter narrled edges where you grip.** A: 37 inches. **Q: need collars** A: Comes with threaded collars. Note this is not standard "1inch" thread. Standard is about 1/4" thicker. I.e. if you have "standard 1inch weights/clips" they will be loose. For the weights not a big deal. Ironically standard 1" is actually 1.25" but they measure the diameter of the inside of the threads which is 1", and the threads add another 1/4" so 1.25" diameter total. This measures to the outside of the threads and its 1" exactly. **Q: Is this a true 1 inch in diameter bar or is it slightly smaller?** A: Yeah. Standard 1 inch weight plates will fit.The barbell is quite heavy on its own.
