There are other flip clocks for sale. This one is on the pricier end and I'm glad I did pay more. It is well made and quite large which was what I was looking for. I like the look and the flipping of numbers is quiet. It is accurate too. Yes I would recommend.

I purchased this clock elsewhere. I like the way it looks up high on my shelf; it looks stylish and blends well with the books sitting behind it. I like how easy it is to see the time from across the room. I like how quiet it is.However, resetting the time, which one must do at least twice a year, obviously, or more if it is ever thrown off its time setting by someone moving it while dusting, is a lesson in unbelievable frustration. It is a tedious process so I hope you have an extra 4 hours out of your life for the resetting.Because the clock is also only flimsy plastic, it looks nicer from a distance than it does up close and it is fragile, so I thought it was overpriced at the $99.00 I paid for it. I mentally chastised myself for being such a sucker that I did not return it when I saw how cheaply made it was, buying it anyway for the look. Therefore, the $160.00 asking price is absolutely outrageous.Basically this clock is junk so if one is going to blow $160.00 on it, set it and try to never touch it! I am giving it three stars because there are things I do like about it, but if I’d purchased it here for $160.00, it would be one star, or maybe two if I was feeling especially generous, and I would have returned it.

Do not buy this clock unless you appreciate quality! Yes, it is expensive. But the German internal workings actually keep time - for months on end. This old fashioned flip clock is like those that were available in the 1960's and 70's is great fun. I've had mine for about two years now and it runs perfectly. Definitely better than buying the cheaper alternatives and throwing them away after a week or a month.***Update*** I've had the flip clock for 2-1/2 years now (purchased 10/2012) and it still keeps perfect time. I adjust the clock when I change the batteries once a year and it is within a minute of the correct time. Amazing for a mechanical device.

This clock is bigger than we thought it would be, which is fine because it makes it easier to see in our living room. But, it is also pretty loud when it flips the hour and also at random times that we can't pinpoint. Since it's in the living room, the noise isn't too much of an issue but wanted to point it out in case anyone is planning on having this in their bedroom or in a baby's room. That probably wouldn't work!
