After months of hand-wringing, we recently broke down and purchased our 12 year old son a cell phone. The phone is an old iPhone 4 in perfect working condition that was rarely used by a friend of the family, making it not only affordable but reliable. Our decision was driven by safety concerns, as our son often has after-school activities that end at different times each day and keeping track of his movements was becoming increasingly difficult, particularly when he wouldn't come straight home as instructed. While we didn't pay much for the phone, it's still a valuable item and we wanted to get a decent case that would provide good protection in the event of an accidental drop.My first move was to explore getting him an OtterBox like the one I have for my own phone but I had trouble finding one for the iPhone 4, given that it's an older model. We then stumbled upon this particular case from MagicSky which looked pretty rugged from the photos and made the purchase, despite my reservations that it would be cheaply built due to its low price of only $8. However, much to my surprise, the case is much sturdier than we expected and certainly worth twice what we paid for it. It's actually a fairly heavyweight case which fits like a glove and even has rubber flaps to cover the ports where the charger and headphones earbuds plug in, preventing dust and other matter from getting into the phone. My son is very happy with it and loves the fact that it has a kickstand on the back which enables him to stream his videos on Netflix and YouTube without having to find something to prop it up. It's worth noting that two separate people have asked if it's an OtterBox due to the similarity in construction and each commented that it provides roughly the same protection at a fraction of the price. If you need a case for an older phone, this is the one to get!

This case was purchased for an aging iPhone 4S that was being "decomissioned" (replaced with a newer iPhone). My niece's old iPod Touch died the same week we went to the store for our new phones, so we reconfigured one of our older phones to replace it. This case replaced a much more basic adult's bumper-style case, and now that we've had it for several months I can vouch for its toughness and durability. My niece likes the colors (although they weren't quite an exact match for the photo onscreen) and also likes the easel feature. However, getting the easel stand to pop out can be quite a chore, even after being used many, many times; we're often digging keys or coins out of pockets in an effort to coax it out of the back of the case when it's folded, and even adults often have to use a fair amount of force to get it to unfold. This problem, along with the resulting concern that we might snap the stand off the back of the case while trying to open it, is why I took 1 star off my final rating. Still, this case provides excellent protection for an iPhone 4S without being annoying in terms of weight or bulkiness, and is easy to grasp by hands of many sizes.

I used to have a UAG case on my iphone 4s back when I was still using it and before it became as entertainment device for my kids. I loved that case but unfortunately after several years, it suffered from the melting rubber syndrome where the rubber areas slowly start turning into a sticky messy residue. I needed to find another heavy duty replacement case for the phone that could withstand the punishment dished out by my 4 year old.This MagicSky case seemed to fit the bill with its hard plastic case and shock absorbent rubber outer shell. The kickstand is a great added feature so my kid wont need to lean the phone against cups or dishes on the table in order to watch videos. Its made of plastic so who knows how long it will last or if it will break off the first time it falls off the table. If it does break, I'll just remove it completely and the case should still be good to go without it. For the price they're selling this phone for, its not that big a deal to me.One thing I didn't like was how far the edges protrude from the face of the phone. Now, I know this depth provides the glass screen more protection from falls, but because it sticks out so far, and the edges of the opening come right up against the view able edge of the screen, I found it hard to hit icons and texting keys that are near the edges with my average adult sized fingers. I'm sure my kids wont have this problem with their small fingers.

Purchased to protect a very very old iPhone 4 I gifted my 8yr old son. I also purchased a matching iPad 4 case. The color is beautiful. My son loves the kick stand the best for viewing YouTube videos. Mom loves that it is sturdy & looks like it can protect his new/old phone from a fall. My husband loves the color & design so much he asked if I could get him one to replace his plain black $80 LifeProof case. Sorry. No can do dad. Our son said No Copy Catting! Lol! This is a great case for the price. I took off 1 star because it attracts lint. I wipe down all our devices at the end of the day so not a big deal for me but something to consider if purchasing for a small child.

I really enjoy this phone case. (Horizontal seems fine though)Makes it a little easier to press the home button (Every once in awhile my iPod turns Siri on)Overall, I'm pretty happy with the case. It gives my phone a nice solid feel and provides enough rubber to absorb the shock of a fall.

I know you get what you pay for however you would think the case would last more than 1 day. I could have spent the same amount of money at Walmart and it would have lasted longer. Kick stand was broken with first use. It is flimsy and can’t even stand the weight of the phone it is made to fit.

Personally I was annoyed that I got something that wasn’t close to what I ordered. I originally bought the iPad cover and it was exactly as it was described. CYAN. This was to match but the phone cover is LIME GREEN. Functionally it’s correct, and that was the main reason for purchase. Thankfully my daughter likes it but certainly not something I’d be buying again anytime soon.
